(Rapper) 50 (Cent) calls Bush 'a gangsta' (Calls Bush 'Incredible,' Would've Voted for Him)

Posted on 11/28/2005 12:06:03 PM PST by nickcarraway

50 Cent and Kanye West are the only ones selected to be GQ's "Men of the Year" who have no false modesty about it — both of the hip-hop stars justify their big egos in the mag's pages. But they also have more on their minds than just themselves. Like George W. Bush, for one. 50 thinks the president is "incredible ... a gangsta." "I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him," 50 told GQ. If the rapper's felony conviction didn't prevent him from voting, 50 said he would have voted for Bush. Meanwhile, Kanye basically called Bush a racist on national television, and has since rethought his strategy for speaking out. "When NBC edited it out on the West Coast, that was a wakeup call," West told the magazine. "It let people know how censored we still are. This is supposed to be America, but you can't get your opinion out. There's all kinds of things I want to say, but I need to pace myself, to make sure my opportunities to say these things aren't taken away too abruptly."

On first blush, I assumed that 50 Cent's comment was intended as (at best) a "left-handed compliment", if not a downright insult. On further review, however, maybe old 50 is making a point. A "gangsta" would never invest a crazed thug who was attempting to break into his crib and murder him and his family with a full suite of special rights and privileges, and neither would President Bush. A gansta wouldn't unilaterally lay down his weapons in the hope that his action would convince his enemies to reciprocate, and neither would President Bush. If one of a gansta's peeps told him that his rival, who had already taken pot shots at him, was hoarding weapons and ammo for another go, he wouldn't wait for that rival to make his move before he launched a little "preemptive strike" of his own, and neither would President Bush.

He believes that freedom of speech means freedom from consequences.

The ENTIRE Left believes that.

And as someone said upthread, CONGRESS is prohibited from making a law abridging the freedom of speech (though it didn't exactly work concerning McVain/Swinefold, did it). It doesn't say anything about anyone else.

Well this is a turnout. Rappers usually only like Dead Presidents...Benjamin Franklin in particular...

No doubt, no doubt.

He also probably meant that gangstas do what they think they have to do and don't pay attention to the whining of cowardly critics.

See, here's one rapper/ hip-hop artist that "gets it". All the "counter-culture" pretenders out there think it's in some way radical to criticize the President. In reality (something exceedingly less & less familiar for lefties), there's little else more conformist than to be a leftie in the entertainment industry.

The true radicals/ non-conformists are the ones brave enough to be conservative.

You know...i can see what he sees in President Bush.

He sees a man who beieves in himself, and is ready
to put it on the line when he needs to, A man who sticks up for his own, and knows the feeling of stanfing up as
a leader.

And not be a wussy, sellout punked up bitch, ready
to cut and run, any time that things get rough,
and there might be real consequences, leaving his
homies & frieds...and families///behind to get chopped
up, to save their own bling...like the DimoWussie
Punks...allways frontin like their badass...but
they're just a bunch backstabbin whinin b*tches...
Like Kanya West.

pro war... maybe,
but then again, maybe he likes the way GWB has taken it to terrorism...
maybe he likes the way the President, no matter what critics say, sticks to his guns (for the most part)....
With 50's hip hop culture, being a called a "gangsta" is probably one hell of a compliment.
