Joe Wilson Hints at Impeachment

Leakgate accuser Joe Wilson hinted at the prospect of impeachment Monday morning while discussing the "betrayal of national security" entailed by the outing of his CIA employee-wife, saying that he hoped the case wouldn't result in "a constitutional crisis."

Asked if he thought the leaking of his wife's name by Cheney chief of staff Lewis Libby was sanctioned by White House higher-ups, Wilson told WABC Radio's "Curtis & Kuby":

"It is clear that Mr. Libby and Mr. Rove were acting - but whether they were acting independently or not is something for [Leakgate prosecutor Patrick] Fitzgerald to determine."

Wilson then explained: "It does strike me that, normally in an organization, the chief of staff does not act completely separate from his principal."

Adopting a tone of mock regret, the aggrieved ex-diplomat declared: "Now I would hope, of course, that this tawdry political act of illegality and betrayal of national security does not become a constitutional crisis."

Asked what actual damage his wife had suffered since she was not undercover at the time of her outing, Wilson declined to respond directly, saying only:

"[Bush officials] decided that they were going to use the enormous power of the White House communications office to try to destroy us. I have had no choice but to defend myself."

Wilson set out to destroy Bush.

Joe took the Islamicists' side, when he said that the President lied.
Since the Times spread Joe's tale, please put them in jail,
And, certainly, Joe should be fried

I almost puked when I went in the leftist book store in Coudersport, PA and saw that Wilson had penned a tome called "The Pursuit of Truth."

How recently have you had contact with your second wife, Jacqueline? What was her position with the French intelligence agency?

This speaks volumes about the CIA vetting process. The MSM would have us believe Valerie was Jane Bond. They would also have us believe the Agency would allow her to remain a NOC after announcing her marriage to a guy who was already married twice, one of whom was a friggin' French agent! This whole story pi**es me off. The time and money wasted on a buffoon like Wilson should be charged with interest back to him. He could pay it back with the money he made on uranium deals in the 90's..

The whole story pisses me off, too (and I am not one to use that sort of language). The basic premise is ridiculous: that President Bush, in order to get revenge on Wilson, revealed the identity of his wife.

Some revenge that was! Wilson got a six-figure book contract, interviews in Vanity Fair and Time, and appearances on all of the talk shows. If only President Bush would wreak his revenge on me!

Seriously, if the President really wanted to get revenge on Wilson he had much better methods he could employ, and it wouldn't have involved using his arch-enemies in the press.

The beginning premise of this whole story is assinine.

The Libs have been trying to beat the drums for impeachment for a couple years now. First Abu Grave (wrong spelling -- but I'm too lazy to look it up); then Gitmo; then 'lies about WMDs; then 'outing' the desk riding wife of some pompous French ex-Diplomat (and perhaps current spy); then back to WMDs... Impeachment is the only play in the Democrats playbook. They bring no ideas, they have no solutions. They were able to conspire with the media 30 years ago and bring down a Republican presidency... This is all they got -- try to initiate impeachment. These shameless wonders play with the lives of Americans by blathering their seditious statements - just for the hope of regaining political power. A pox on them and the media.

LOL - I've often wondered if that's what the Swimmer's face looks like after a couple dozen rounds of Scotch.

Timeout said: "Yes, it is vague. But the article clearly states that Wilson's wife was at the conference and omits any reference to Kristof's wife being there. I also lean on the fact that Wilson is the subject of the sentence, thus the "his" should relate to him."

It IS vague and if Valerie were at the conference, it would be a bit odd for Wilson to breakfast without her. OTOH, Kristoff's wife is also a journalist, so even though it may have been grammatically incorrect to do so, it is conceivable that the reporter intended for this allusion to be to Kristoff's wife, not Wilson's. Good catch!

"how or why did the popular news sources fail to make it known in their reporting?"

They probably buried it at the bottom of the page like AFP did in that Yahoo article, LOL.
