Leakgate accuser Joe Wilson hinted at the prospect of impeachment Monday morning while discussing the "betrayal of national security" entailed by the outing of his CIA employee-wife, saying that he hoped the case wouldn't result in "a constitutional crisis."
Asked if he thought the leaking of his wife's name by Cheney chief of staff Lewis Libby was sanctioned by White House higher-ups, Wilson told WABC Radio's "Curtis & Kuby":
"It is clear that Mr. Libby and Mr. Rove were acting - but whether they were acting independently or not is something for [Leakgate prosecutor Patrick] Fitzgerald to determine."
Wilson then explained: "It does strike me that, normally in an organization, the chief of staff does not act completely separate from his principal."
Adopting a tone of mock regret, the aggrieved ex-diplomat declared: "Now I would hope, of course, that this tawdry political act of illegality and betrayal of national security does not become a constitutional crisis."
Asked what actual damage his wife had suffered since she was not undercover at the time of her outing, Wilson declined to respond directly, saying only:
"[Bush officials] decided that they were going to use the enormous power of the White House communications office to try to destroy us. I have had no choice but to defend myself."
Chrissy's grown soft & fat from all the Kool Aid. I swear, he spits every time he says Karl Rove's name! He should have become an embarassment to NBC (like Andrea Mitchell & Tim Russert...LOL!)

When you go "Pro Bono" to Niger leaving no trail, "You're the Secret".
When you do not issue "a written report", You're the Secret".
When your wife gets you the job, obviously via Dem Operatives, it's "WHY YOU'RE THE SECRET".
You missed the boat Joe! You didn't know that the secret of Valerie and Joe had been written up in the "Classified", not once....but twice.
Berger didn't burn everything did he!! Funny that the Kerry campaign fired you within days of Berger.....In 2004.
But Berger's first heist (I believe) was June 28, 2003.....a week before your article.
I have a hard time believing Wilson would be stupid enough to put himself in the position of having to testify under oath in open court. Unless, of course, he's gotten to the point where he actually believes his own lies, and is confident that the media are totally on his side and will continue to spin everything in his favor, as they've done throughout this whole farce.
He's milking it ad infinitum, isn't he? I hope people greet this news with the same enthusiasm as they did during Cindy Sheehan's book signing. ;-)
The only thing that Joe will lose in all this is his THIRD wife, Valerie. She can't be that stupid?? My best guess is that she's been passing classified info to Joe and he's been passing it to the Dems. He certainly has easy access to her. It's not like he has to send emails or show up at the CIA. He just has to get her under the covers and she sings like a canary. People don't change...
You can bet the farm that if the Democrats win control of Congress President Bush will be impeached.

WELL SAID. Wilson needs to sit down with a serious prosecutor and a lie detector specialist. I think that would bring the whole thing to a screeching halt. HE is the leak, IMO.

Easier said than done. If they impeach, that sort of implies that they won control of the House (2006). Therefore their president (2008) will have to be impeached by a "RAT" controlled House? Or was your plan that Repub take back the House in 2008? I think not, just like they cannot impeach now or they would have accomplished it already. They are banking on taking the House in 2006 and they will drive to that goal above all else - GET BUSH OUT BEFORE 2008. But first they want Cheney out of the way, or at a minimum take them out simultaneously. I agree with you it is a huge issue, but many Repubs just slough it off and call it a RAT dream.
Joe is no longer an asset to the Dems. His source (Valerie) has dried up. You don't think for a minute that Goss would entrust her with any info, do you??
