CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA A Eagles fan was charged with defiant trespass after running onto the field during Sunday's game agains the Packers and spreading his dead mother's ashes around.
The fan, whose name was not released, said his mother was a die-hard Eagles fan but didn't have a chance to go to an Eagles game before she died, police said.
Players from both teams looked on as the man ran up the middle of the field, waving a plastic bag in the air as the ashes flew out. He eventually dropped to his knees, genuflected, and was then arrested.
It was unclear whether the man was a season ticket holder or if the Eagles would take any action against him.
Son who spread mother's ashes on field genuflects before being arrested at Lincoln Financial Field Sunday.

I thought it was more symbolic of the Eagles season... |
Some times a man has to do what a man has to do.
Waiting till after the game may have been prudent.
Definition "fan": The word emerged as an Americanism around 1889, a shortened version of the word "fanatic."
And, it worked.

I hope no one is sitting on her.
Something like this might be understandable if it was a guy who was a season ticket holder at Yankee Stadium for fifty years or something, and his son wanted his ashes mixed in with the soil.
But this guy dumps his mother's ashes on a plastic field in a stadium that's only three years old, which she never even visited when she was alive!
Have another beer.
Speaking as a Giants fan, being spread on the Eagles field after cremation would be my idea of hell ;) .

Or he could have put ther ashes in a 'team' baseball. . .and left it//her on the mantle. . .OR. . .(!!!!)
Safe to say. . .he has other issues. . .
Yay!
Let's run around a heavily crowded sporting venue while empthing a small plastic bag of an unknown whitish powdery substance.
[Guiness] Brilliant !!! [/Guiness]
A friend of mine, an avid but not too skillful golfer, has made it known that when his time comes, he wishes his ashes placed in the sand trap in front of the 18th green of his golf club. He maintains he spends more time in that trap than he does at home. His ex-wife concurs.
Yep, if that was momma's wish...
No chance of any sane mother wishing that for Reliant Stadium and our minor league sissy football team we have down here.
So if he genuflected, that means Catholic--and it is against Canon to spread ashes in such a way. She should have been interred in a consecrated urn and buried, not scattered on a football field...
The Linc filed is not plastic, it is real grass with synthetic fibers woven in, like the Bronco's field...
That being said, what a crazy stunt.
Really... Contact the Eagles organization and make a formal request and I'm sure they'd have made arrangements for the "spreading", though it surely would NOT have been during a game...
