Bush plans anti-illegals campaign

President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court. But the president will also renew his call for a program to allow Mexicans who have already entered the U.S. illegally to remain here for up to six years. That initiative has long angered conservatives who equate it with amnesty.

well according to Cambridge Online dictionary:

vigilante

noun [C]

a person who tries in an unofficial way to prevent crime, or to catch and punish someone who has committed a crime, especially because they do not think that official organizations, such as the police, are controlling crime effectively. Vigilantes usually join together to form groups.

Just because I happen to agree that they fulfill the definition doesn't mean that I don't approve. Heck, if I lived on the border and the Minutemen were patrolling my property, I would give them sandwiches and coffee.

We actually now have a bill in congress right now on that... now getting it passed is a whole different ball game...

And actually I Arizona where I live there is a big call for it ... Just have to shout loud enough so that Washington hears us.

Minutemen do not try to capture illegals; therefore, vigilante is a misnomer. Reporting a crime (such as reporting illegal entry into the US to the Border Patrol) is no more vigilantism than a neighborhood watch that reports criminal activity to the police.
