Bush plans anti-illegals campaign
The Washington Times ^ | November 28, 2005 | Bill Sammon

Posted on 11/27/2005 10:27:55 PM PST by ConservativeStatement

President Bush today will call for a crackdown on illegal immigration, a move aimed at further rallying conservatives who recently cheered Mr. Bush's tough talk on Iraq and the Supreme Court. But the president will also renew his call for a program to allow Mexicans who have already entered the U.S. illegally to remain here for up to six years. That initiative has long angered conservatives who equate it with amnesty.

6-year stay is sanity?
Hello! they came illegally, what makes you think they are willing to go back after the 6 year period?
Not everyone deserves America! If we don't think so and act so, then America will eventually become a third-world itself!
I worked all my way from a Third world commie country to America, I don't want America slide back into the third world!

Yes a six year stay without bringing in families. I'm also for amending the 14th amendemnt to stop the anchor babies, and also America will become a third world hell hole if the govt. starts to put more exessive regulations and taxes on productive people, and Bush has a record of trying to cut taxes and roll back execessive regulations, but that always seems to get lost in the immigrant threads.

What part of illegal do you not understand? They need to be deported, and those that employ them need to be jailed and fined under existing laws.

Let me ask you a question, do you think people who do good things such as grow food and build buildings are inherently evil.

Also would you be in favor of cutting regulations and taxes on these busineses who do such things, and how come I never hear that from you, only animus towards business.

Mr. Bush's tough talk

So far that's all he's done. Clinton yapped too, about lots of things. The only real difference between them is that Bush has a pretty wife.

>> Are they not vigilantes?

1 entry found for vigilantes.

'One who takes or advocates the taking of law enforcement into one's own hands.'

Apparently they are, according to The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition.

Someone has to do it. If those entrusted with enforcing the statutes will not do their jobs they better change the statute, otherwise don't piss on the locals for doing what they pay taxes to have others supposedly do. Americans work around those who do not do their jobs, we do not wait for them to pull their shit together.

Vigilantism is the cat no one wants to see let out of the bag, but she is coming out and someones are in for a buss load of stitches.

Please keep in mind that our Legislative and Executive branches of government don't think there's any project that costs too much for them to push through, IF they want to.

If you looked at the overall cost of building a cement wall 50 feet tall for 2000 miles, it would probably cost about 10% of one year's welfare budget.

I'd be surprised if it would cost more than one or two years outlay for government services for illegal aliens.

So you either prefer a SS tax increase or you bring in more legals? Let's make sure we're on the same page here. There is no choice at all. The mathematics of pensions is inescapable. Our retirees are going to be destitute if there is a tax base reduction through deportation.

How does bringing in more legals differ from providing a mechanism for illegals to become legals?

The illegals have been here a while, may have some English now, know something of the country and sign up to jump through the hoops required of them to become legal. Why is this a disciplined procedure different from . . . or inferior to . . . bringing in new legals?

From a purely efficient perspective in terms of SS tax base, it makes no sense to toss out people who know their jobs and bring in possibly defective newbies.

I agree, and I'll add this. I know some people think it's racist to mention this, but as a people we do have a right to desire our culture not to be overrun by those with a different culture.

Shouldn't we choose more wisely who we are going to allow to come into our nation to stay? Why should we facilitate Muslems from terrorist states entering our nation? A certain percentage of those folks are going to hate us.

Excuse me for thinking that it is not an imperitive that we allow anyone from terrorist states to move here. Why must we? What is up with this?

I don't have anything against Mexican nationals. For the life of me I cannot understand why we must flood our nation with so many of them that government and business services must be provided in Spanish. Why are we destroying our own culture to accomodate so many foreign nationals?

Radio stations around southern California have been changing to Spanish. In essense, a certain percentage of our state is becoming Mexicanized. Who thought this was a good idea?

It's pointless to go on, but we're simply giving away our nation. I'm sick of it.

"We're going to get control of our borders," Mr. Bush said on Oct. 18. "Our goal is clear -- to return every single illegal entrant, with no exceptions." (My emphasis)

When hell freezes over! Mr. President, you are so full of *hit!!!

No, but I have had members of my family run out of the building trades because of cheap illegal labor. What part of breaking the law do you free traitors not understand? People that employ illegals should go to jail and have their assets seized under the RICO act.

Obviously our border is long, but in the most important and strategic areas along the border, a series of fencing would help. It has already been successful in the part built in California along the border (except for the hole in a small area that needs filling in, but that the Bush Admin hasn't wanted to fund).

Saying it's long is an understatement. As much as I'd like to see some kind of true wall, I know it won't happen for the very reason you just mentioned - if the federal government (President Bush, etc.), won't fix the problems already present in those areas with some kind of control, I seriously doubt they will do anything on this large of scale.

What I would like to see, and what I think would ultimately be more successul, at least in regards to illegal immigration, is jailtime for those who emply illegal aliens. You start putting company managers and owners in jail (and not the country club variety), you'll see a lot of jobs drying up fast for them.

Following jailtime for those who employ illegals, you have to work on insuring that illegals don't benefit from federal and state assistance programs.

Remove those two incentives, and you've gone a long way towards cleaning up the border region.

Of course, those who employ illegals have deep, deep pockets, and probably contribute to both parties (hence President Bush wanting to allow current illegals to stay in the country for up to six years).

He will propose a "not-an-amnesty" guest worker program and improved border enforcement.

Sorry, Mr. President - Enforcement first. When the job market tightens up a bit and the casual labor spots empty out, then you can implement a guest worker program.

I think it's about time. Just because we "now" need illegal labor, doesn't make it right. It also doesn't justify calling "invasion and abuse" - immigration. These people are not and never were immigrants. They are sneaky, come in, take jobs, use tax-based public services, schools and have some feeling of entitlement. If we're going to have true immigration in this country, let it be from "everywhere" not just Mexico. Why are they so special?
They are not. Close the border and put an end to this before half of this country turns into Mexicoville. We should also boycott Wendy's Restaurants for hiring so many of them for the sake of higher profits.

Are you honestly trying to say that the nation which put a man on the moon in 1969, and invaded Iraq in a matter of weeks, doesn't have the capability of building a pair of chain-link fences along our border?

Try harder. You are insulting our intelligence.

"You are ignoring the fact that in Israel, their fence HAS worked well."

You just can't seem to grasp the fact that 50 miles is A LOT different than 2000 miles. And there are political events happening in Israel that contributed to the reduction in suicide bombing attacks. Arafat is dead. Israel has pulled out of many disputed territories. The war in Iraq has attracted Jihadists like a moth to a lightbulb, etc. Even Israel acknowledges that its wall can only reduce the number of terrorists slipping across its borders. Not eliminate them. And when their wall is completely done, it will be less than 1/4 the length of ours.

"the Berlin Wall had more possibilities for escape. It didn't have the series of barriers that the Israeli's have built w/their fence (there is another thread somewhere on FR that show's the series of barriers and roads, ditches, etc.)."

Absolutely false. The Berlin wall made anything the Israelis plan look like a picket fence. And the guards in its 320 watch towers had strict orders to shoot to kill. And they did. 171 times in 28 years. Yet, 5000 made it through. That is one person every 3 or 4 days through a series of barriers and bullets that we could never hope to replicate along a length of border .8% the length of what we hope to cover.

"Obviously our border is long, but in the most important and strategic areas along the border, a series of fencing would help. It has already been successful in the part built in California along the border"

So the flow of illegals into this country has slowed down? I don't think so. Like water, they just look for the path of least resistance. Here's another analogy. When you are suffering from a roach infestation, you will never get rid of them until you remove the reason they came into your house in the first place. No amount of spraying and NO attempt to seal your house will work. You've got to remove the lure.

"So would a fence if we wanted it to."

That is what Hadrian, the Chinese and the French and the Soviets thought. The simple fact (proven again and again and again) is that walls do not work to prevent an invasion.
