> Basically, unshielded and switched-on electronics cease as soon as they are hit by the pulse. Since modern cars run with the assistance of the assistance of the battery, I'm guessing the pulse will cause them to roll to a stop.
It has the potential (bad pun) to be much worse than that.
Most all consumer electronics are vulnerable to EMP, so kiss your computers, DVDs, TVs, and the myriad of devices using embedded controllers goodbye. While this would not be an immediate problem to somebody living in the blast zone,
the EMP can take out solid state electronics for hundreds of miles, depending on the initial burst height. A ground burst mitigates the effect, the higher the altitude, the further the effect is propagated.

I'm not sure Karl. The opening to the C2C show was very odd. Unlike the usual opening. It was as if they came back from a commercial break rather than opening up the show from the beginning.

Do you know a lot about these EMPs? I didnt quite buy that a nuclear warhead going off on the East Coast would knock out the entire country's electronics? Is there a definitive range?
I was just about to ask doesn't anybody remember about the Cabbage Patch dolls? This isn't that much different.

How about if the devices are off when the pulse hits? Would they be okay when electricity is restored?

See you next week!
Mat appears to be deeply upset by this issue. I dont blame him.

The Cindy Sheehan Show?
That might have 3 showings before it gets cancelled. [Although NBC might give it a try -- they're scraping bottom now.]

There was a program in Byte in the 80s to calculate it based on yield and height. A rough guess is tens of miles for a ground burst, a few hundreds of miles for an air burst and
several hundreds of miles for a burst above the atmosphere.
The effect was first notices when a nuke tested several hundreds of miles out in space knocked out the power grid in Hawaii. Happened in the mid 60s if my memory serves me.

Think Ian from last night's show wanted to talk more on open lines about UFO'S and disclosure concerning them in Canada than about what the guest had to offer.

I remember them and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but I don't remember either having an associated frenzy.
