Man. Life must be getting rough in Baltimore.

I'm starting this very early tonight, as I'm leaving, and won't be back 'til the last hour. Comment on what you hear, starting at 9:30 on WABC-NY, and I'll see you all then!

Is it going to be drudge or a stand in? Seems many people have been out for the 4 day Thanksgiving weekend.

Hi Lainie!

"A Turner switchboard operator was fired today after we were alerted to a conversation the operator had with a caller in which the operator lost his temper and expressed his personal views -- behavior that was totally inappropriate.

So was the X an accident, or not?

Sounds like the X wasn't an issue, except to the caller.

The switchboard op was fired for expressing personal views. So who put up the X and why wasn't (s)he fired too? After all, that was a personal view as well....

The Royal Marines (graphic images warning) story will probably be big.

I'll probably tune in if Matt's live. I don't care for his fill-in.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN NOV 27 2005 17:05:23 ET XXXXX

NETWORKS PLAN 'END OF AMERICA' SHOWS

The TV networks are getting edgier in their '06 pilot plans.

The nets have filled their development slates with a bevy of brave ideas and bold format experiments, VARIETY reports on Monday, including shows about THE END OF AMERICA!

ABC alone has at least two would-be shows set in post-apocalyptic America ("Resistance" and "Red & Blue") while Gavin Polone and Bruce Wagner are teaming for the comfy-sounding plague drama "Four Horsemen" at CBS (which also is developing "Jericho," about life in a small town after America is destroyed).

Says Fox exec VP Craig Erwich: "The creative community appears to be really inspired this year," he says. "It was an exciting time to be buying. I came away pretty encouraged about network TV."

It appears that Matt's half hour local pre-view show will NOT be on WABC this evening. :(
They are currently still broadcasting FOOTBALL.

Thanks for the ping, lainie!

Twenty years ago, guardrails along Chicago's tollways were also being taken and sold as scrap. Or so folks told me when I asked why there were posts but no rails...

So was the X an accident, or not?

When I read the thread about this, the impression I was left with was that it might have been an error, but it was an operator or technician error and not a mechanical or software one. Somebody might have been pranking. The poster that noted this mentioned that somebody could possibly lose their job (at least their position) over the gaffe, even if not intentionally done.

Evidentally it was not a mistake, but some CNN employess expressing their political opinion on this administration. The phone operator who went even farther when they received angry calls was fired.
