Any psuedo "sport-hunting", posing poser, tree-standing, duckblinding, inadequate, floundering, hunterering bozo who wants to kill any defenseless beautiful animal like any one of these needs to check and re-check their thinking. God is watching.
There is such a high deer population round about where I live, (we have the highest number of deer in the state and they have caused many an accident). The deer around here usually die in one of two ways - either run out into the road in front of a car and get killed, where the carcass is left to lie, rotting, on the side of the road; or get shot by a hunter. Might as well be killed by the hunter and the carcass taken home to be processed and eaten. I am not a hunter - there are none in my family, however, it does my heart good to hear those gun shots in the woods every deer hunting season. The population needs to be thinned somehow, might as well be through hunting. As to the duck, bear, etc., well, I've had duck (delicious!) and wouldn't object to trying bear.
I must have really ticked her off on that other thread.
Durn Sungirl your gonna get in trouble again.
So I'm gonna hang a hat on the Antlers in my living room in your honor.
A-Men to the standing 10 yards away from a wild bugling Elk thrashing a small tree and the bear not more than 20 or 30 feet from you (and not only no firearm but no human being either)
I'm leaving with my Grandson in about 3 hours for Bedford and two days of hunting, we hunt where I hunted as a young man and there are very few deer remaining in the area we hunt and it use to be a great area.
The reason for the decline in the deer population was the work of the management done by the Game Commission. I really believe all they could see was dollar signs from the sale of licenses. Of course the hunter that had to take 3 deer to be happy didn't help either. You can get a regular deer tag and in most areas two anterless tags.
I haven't heard about any CWD in PA but one must have to think its here since WVA and NY have cases of it. Wasn't aware it was in Maryland.
I hunt and have never know a "Trophy Hunter". Even if someone sees a nice buck and shoots it for its horns, they will clean it,skin it and donate the meat.
Is there an objection if I shoot a deer or bear, skin it, clean it, keep the fur or the head or the horns, cut the meat up and give it to the local processor to be donated to the hungry? The whole notion of "Trophy Hunters" in any argument about hunting is just to get ones foot in the door to banning hunting because jut being against hunting is hypocritical for anyone who eats meat.
God is watching
I asked God if it was ok to hunt, because the years of living in Seattle had caused me to feel guilty about it. I always thought "Its fine as long as you eat the meat". One morning I drove around the countryside worshiping God, thanking him for everything I could think of. I told him I didn't care if I ever hunted I just wanted to know what was right. I also told him if I was going to take a deer it would have to be huge, because I knew I would see many deer on my hunt. After hunting all evening I had seen very little and decided to head back. As I walked through the woods the biggest buck I had ever seen on the property appeared to my right. It stomped the ground, danced a bit and bolted and disappeared. I followed its tracks until they mixed with some old ones and I lost his trail (it was only about 50 feet). I looked around and was ready to leave when I saw him about 50 yards away between two trees, staring at me. I knew I had only a few seconds so I lifted my rifle, free standing, no rest (an improbable shot) and fired. I saw white hair fly.
I looked for that deer until it got dark, then I got my father in law and we searched with flashlights until we gave up. The next morning I got early and walked the property, wondering why God gave me that buck but didn't let me find it. After about an hour, about a half mile from were I shot it, I found it caught in the brush, dead. By the time I was able to get a truck and load it up it had been sitting in the Texas heat for a good few hours as well as all night in mild temps. My father in law, who's hunted for 50 years advised we not take the meat because it may be bad, so I cut off the horns and left the body for the buzzards.
When I got back to the suburbs, where I live, I wondered what God was doing, and why this confusing turn of events happened when I had questioned God so directly, but was left still confused.A couple of days later God spoke to my heart and said "You worship the creature more than the creator which is blessed forever" Romans 1. I laughed out loud, repented, thanked God for that correction and haven't cared about it since.
My family of 4 just finshed deer season we have killed 8 so far 1 day left. We have help others kill another 10 or so.
Heading out to SD to hunt pheasants next week. Yep I just a hunting and killing machine. If I can legaly hunt and kill it I am all for doing it. Went to Montana last summer as with the last 10 or so years shot hundreds of Praire dogs if not a thousand per trip. I know the whole group of us killed thousands.
Plan to start running yotes when we get fresh snow the hounds are ready. Nothing like hear a good hound pack open up on a bear, cat or yote to start the day.
I hope you have a great day thinking of all the fine critters I have sent to the happy hunting ground.
Today I'm going to mom's for a massive deer fry.
Life is good.
He wasn't defenseless either, he was getting ready to charge and I was in fear for my life.
Is he watching when animals eat each other alive? Is he watching as some predators make a living by killing newborns of other species or even of their own species? Is this a situation your all-loving G-d tolerates but the quick dispatch by a human with a firearm of a full grown specimen is somehow too cruel for your sensibilities?
You need to do some re-thinking and figure out why you think it is immoral for a human to deliver the quickest, most painless death an animal in the wild is ever likely to receive.
You are better eqiupped to digest raw meat than the raw grass seeds that are processed to make your daily bread
I keep a Social Distortion watchcap on my 10 pointer above the wood burning fireplace....he likes it
If you hunt in Pennsylvania you are a brave man.
When I was in school in Southwest Pa., every fall was like an artilery barrage; cows getting shot, dogs, little kids, all grist for the crazies coming out of Pittsburg, and Phillie and a lot of them drunk.
I just reread Sunny's thread body and dang...she is against flounder-fishing?
...get your weapons--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game... Genesis 9:2-3, 27:3
God sure is watching
Guess Fuzzy has never had carpaccio
we humans can eat any flesh raw off the bone if we want
Love the Reagan pic
Fishing hurts the fish doncha know?
Are you near Ocala? We went noth of Ocala 2 years ago to buy a Jack Russel Terrier from a breeder. That is some of the most beautiful country, I loved it. Amazing that you have so many animals. You have bears too? WOW!
I see you took my advice to post your own anti-hunting threads and to stay off of our threads about the rewards, talent and skill it takes to feed oneself, not to mention the fine balancing acts our state DNRs engage in.
Enjoy your abuse. I predict that today is the first day of the last of your posts. :)
