As I say, I am aware of the technical difference. The separate student, work, etc, visa's are routinely used as a means of legally immigrating to the US. Once here a large percentage begin to seek out more permanent status, often letting their current status expire.

No matter though, they know there is little chance of being caught because the system is undermanned and out of control. Which brings us back to the original point.

I despise leftist loonies of any stripe, and "Magic Bullet" Spectre is as loony and leftist as they come.

From either side of the aisle.

Give it up, Mo. Whenever anyone tries to point out the ultimately unfair reality of allowing legions of illegals to remain here under the protection of politicians recieving high contributions from their employers (studiously inderectly) the people who can't contribute more (the honest people) are found way down on the list. The good people who are trying to get here by playing by the rules will just have to accept that they've been forsaken for poorly educated South Americans willing to work for a pittance for their employers' enrichment. It's far more important that disposable and right-less peons are available to perpetuate labor-intensive jobs at the expense of progressive technology and methodology.

Seriously, it would be far more humanitarian to make these people stay in their home countries agitating for representitive governments there. It won't be cleaned up otherwise no matter how many fake treaties are enacted. If the partner countries aren't held to corrective measures their peasants will continue seeking to come here. Demand they FIX IT, don't help perpetuate those country's legacy of corruption.
