The following is an update from Daily Pundit who has chronicled the UNBELIEVABLE behavior of CNN employees in the wake of the X/Cheney incident. A switch board operator who berated callers to CNN telling them "Bush and Cheney should stop lying" and that "Putting the X over Cheney's face was freedom of speach" has been fired by CNN. This has been confirmed! Visit this link to hear the tape.
I just got off the phone with Laurie Goldberg, Senior Vice President for Public Relations with CNN. Her statement confirms the authenticity of the tape recording and reveals the actions CNN took after learning of the incident:
"A Turner switchboard operator was fired today after we were alerted to a conversation the operator had with a caller in which the operator lost his temper and expressed his personal views -- behavior that was totally inappropriate. His comments did not reflect the views of CNN. We are reaching out to the caller and expressing our deep regret to her and apologizing that she did not get the courtesy entitled to her. "
What is CNN?
Oh, wait a minute, nobody does now.
(except for all their moms, of course)
TS
Easy, do like hundreds of millions of Americans and I do - don't watch.
How do we fire CNN?
Watch Fox News and never spend a second on CNN> When in a motel, switch the channel in the lobby from CNN
Yes, when he tells the story of the conservative media bias. LOL.
"Putting the X over Cheney's face was freedom of speach"
This quote certainly makes it sound like it's well known inside CNN that this was a purposeful stunt pulled by CNN. Something everyone at CNN knows but dares not admit.
Thanks. Others have stated that he overseas end of CNN was all that kept it afloat. It may not have much influence here, but the same left fringe slant probably turns a lot of foreigners against the U.S.
I'd like to see FoxNews compete for the airport news service. It gauls me to see CNN get that exclusive market.
"How do we fire CNN?"
We don't need to .. the public already has!
Oh good grief!
This tape is an impending huge public relations disaster for CXN.
They thought they had "put this episode behind them" with their little charade and phony explanation.
Now they have attempted to shut down the scandal of this outrage by firing their employee, but it won't be enough.
I hope CXN's ratings go lower than "The Sheetrock Network" on channel 426.
Dan Rather got fired again???
I listened to that call. The operator is obviously black so CNN may be looking at litigation.
bttt
I have worked overseas. CNNi and the Beeb are exclusive for English language in most areas. Understanding that European and most foreign media outlets are very much more "well regulated" than what we Americans are accustomed to. I would not want to impugn the integrity of CNNi, but the local citizenry indicated that CNNi routinely "purchased" access and favors. Foreign revenue streams are very difficult to use for profitability evaluations. But you can be certain that this sale will reduce the sphere of influence wielded by CNNi in Germany.

What will the crack dealers and prostitutes watch, then?
And you wonder why CNN ratings are a fraction that of the Fox News Channel.
If this is really true then CNN LIED!!! THEY LIED when they said it couldn't be duplicated. CALL A GRAND JURY. THEY LIED!!!! AND VIEWERS WERE FRIED!!! We need to get to the bottom of this. Pull out all the stops. Leave no stone unturned. THEY LIED!!!! (Can't help myself)because THEY LIED!!!!
Oh Oh, the hot air blimpie, the "CNN Hindenbergh" is on fire and about to explode. What a great spectacle!
I'll tell you what is gaulling.
The TV in the waiting area of the VA Hospital in Biloxi is always set to CNN with a sign that says, "Do Not Change Channel"
