Exactly. Which is why when the AP brought his name into play and his old deed, they must be made to bring this past transgression into context with modern day "leaks".

What punishment, if any, did he receive? Why is there no mention of this being a crime in the mention of who he is and what he did?

Can I ask all Freepers a favor? For Thanksgiving can we do the worst thing possible to moonbat mom's Texas tantrum. Ignore it. Can we please try not to give her any attention by posting anything about her unless something major happens. I would have also said or if it's something that makes her look foolish, but that's pretty much anything she does. Can we not give her the attention she craves for a few days. Let's try and make "Cindy who?" our watchwords this weekend. I know I'll not be thinking of her.

The interesting thing about it is he was the one, I think, who actually wrote the negative documents he eventually stole.

I have a good bud who was a McClennan County Deputy Sheriff a while back. On a late night call to a Honky-tonk out in the boonies, he came over the hill to see the fight was out in the middle of the road, a whole bunch of people. He steps out, alone, hollers "Drop your weapons!". They all stop, and then he hears: "Clank, thunk, clatter, bong, clinkety-clink, tap-tap, clunk"

Rural Texas deputy sheriffs have a reputation and a tradition to uphold. One riot - one Ranger.

He said time never was as protracted as that wait for backup. He is now an engineer. He has to tell burly foremen what to do and what to tear out and start all over. He brings authority, responsibility, and his oath to whatever job he does. A code to enforce.

Like some other fine professionals I know. Happy Thanksgiving to all who serve. God Bless You.

No one should be surprised that law enforcement is preventing the terror supporters from setting up camp near the President's residence.

1971 : (LEAKS/SECURITY BREACHES : ELLSBERG TURNS STOLEN PENTAGON PAPERS OVER TO THE NY TIMES) In 1971, in what the historian William Manchester described as "perhaps the most extraordinary leak of classified documents in the history of governments," Daniel Ellsberg turned over to The New York Times a huge study of U.S. involvement in Vietnam that came to be known as the Pentagon Papers. The Nixon administration tried to destroy Mr. Ellsberg. He was viciously harassed. His psychiatrist's office was burglarized. And he was charged with treason, theft and conspiracy.
The prosecution was not successful. The charges were thrown out due to government misconduct.--------------- "Spying at the UN," by BOB HERBERT, New York Times, January 19, 2004
