RALEIGH - Rep. Ed McMahan, a Charlotte lawmaker, gave $1,000 to Democratic State Treasurer Richard Moore's campaign last year. That would be unremarkable except that McMahan is a Republican National Committeeman and has criticized the GOP's highest-ranking House member for his alliance with Democrats.
"If you're seeking to be part of the power structure of the Republican Party," said Ed Meyer, the GOP nominee for treasurer in 2004, "there's no place for giving money to a Democrat."
If North Carolina's party rules are the same as Kentucky's, he has to be removed from his party office.
HAY-OH!!
Despite preferring Republicans for President and US Senate, the state still prefers Democrats for almost every state govt office.
Its sort of strange, and yes, it does mean that Moore will likely be the next governor.
Well, the STATE PARTY Chairman is in on this! We're talking MONEY here, and seeking higher office.
They'll be trying to seep it under the rug. the State Party Chairman's e-mail can be found on the State website www.ncgop.org, his name is Ferrell Blount
I nominate this guy for the "2005 RINO of the Year Award".
It comes under the category "advertise what you don't have," in this case, fidelity.
Another Rino Ho.............ho hum.
I'll see your RINO who contributes to 'Rats and raise you TWO Tennessee state senator RINO's who vote their own party out of power to side with the MINORITY 'Rats in the state senate.
It says California, but it applies nationally.
McMahan calls donation an error
GOP lawmaker gave $1,000 to Democrat, cites employee mistake
"McMahan calls donation an error"
"GOP lawmaker gave $1,000 to Democrat, cites employee mistake"
This guy, McMahan, is my state rep, and he's a down-the-line conservative. I'm not aware of any vote to fault him on.
When he says it was an employee mistake, I believe him.
Please use original titles.
Carolina rebel, I appreciate that you're looking out for Ed Meyer, who I supported particularly and strongly in 2004, but I'm sure you must also know that McMahan is one of the best conservative Republican lawmakers we've got in this state. He's not evil, or a traitor, or a RINO, just because the company of which he is vice chairman has a PAC that donates to both political parties.
I trust your opinion
Johnny Z, Look at the North Carolina State Board of Elections website. Go to Campaign Finance, do a search for Moore, look at Richard Moore for Treasurer, 3rd Quarter data, then look under the "C"s for comittee to elect Ed McMahan. You'll this man Gave $1000 to the Democrats. Also , if you read the article you'll see he is the President and CEO of his company, So I ask you what is the differecnce between him sewnding the check form HIS company PAC or From his Campaign?
So, you supported Bill Clinton, 'cause everybody does it, Right?
You lack balance of temperament.
The article says nothing on that score.
Elsewhere I read that:
Rep. McMahan is
Vice Chairman of Little Diversified Architectural Consulting
President and CEO of the Little-McMahan Group
As far as I can tell, the Little-McMahan PAC closed down 15 years ago. The LITTLE & ASSOC ARCHITECTS INC PAC is active but while it supposedly gives money to both parties, from what I can see it's mostly to Republicans.
November 22, 2005All it would take is 3000 conservatives to throw the Anarellas, the Morgans, the Daves and the rest of the RINOS out of power forever in NC. Why is it so difficult to get JUST 3000 conservatives to show up at the state convention?

Rep. Ed McMahan – A Man of High Integrity (barf)
Looking in a dictionary for the definition of integrity, one would find the picture of Representative Ed McMahan. Mr. McMahan is one of the finest individuals in politics today. He represents everything that is good about a citizen-politician. He is a successful businessman and family man, as well as one of the largest fundraisers for Republican causes in North Carolina. His commitment to doing what is right for our state is beyond question.
For Richard Morgan to call Mr. McMahan a hypocrite and question Ed's character is appalling. This is the same Richard Morgan who was expelled from the NC GOP Executive Committee for party disloyalty. The same Richard Morgan who vindictively controls the State house while at the same time passing out favors to the few legislators who share his vengeful ways.
We need more individuals like Ed McMahan representing the interests of all North Carolinians.
John Aneralla, Chairman
