"If she is charged because she was part of the planning, if she is charged because she was sort of a co-conspirator, she will face murder charges, even if she didn't pull the trigger. And the important thing to know about this, in terms of Pennsylvania law, is because she's 14, she's old enough to be transferred to adult court, be prosecuted as an adult and face, not the death penalty because of her age, but life behind bars."

If she gets charged she won't do much time as she is a minor ... and apparently did not pull the trigger. I understand they may be pressuring her with this to testify against him.
She probably said something like "My parents said we'd be together only over their dead bodies..."
She may be involved because the state dropped the kidnapping charges against her boyfriend because she willingly left with him...
2 out of 3 ain't bad. Going far away (prison) and starting a new life (sentence).
Kids do say stupid things, add hormones and things can turn tragic.
I don't think hormones are a defense to cold-blooded double murder.
The article said a 14-year-old can be charged as an adult under PA. law. Can't get the death penalty, though.
I wouldn't think they need her to testify against him. He's confessed. They found the murder weapon under the front seat of his car. Kara's younger sister saw him shoot her father and reported so to police.
I think they are just trying to figure out what she should be charged with.
Sure, he's not the first person in the world who's had his girlfriend's parents disapprove of him. But murdering them? Has life gotten so cheap that murder is now a first choice of settling agreements? How long can such a society survive?
I don't thing ANYTHING is a defense in cold blooded murder. Not even 14 yrs old.
Im surprized the authorities are not treating Kara as a flight risk.
Yeah, she can't drive (at least not legally), but how could anyone put it past her to find some way to take off. Unless she's determined, literally, to stand by her man.
It's dreadful and sad
that a 14 year old girl
fell for this nut guy.
I wonder if she
was "just" an unbalanced girl
or if one or both
of her parents did
something traumatic to her
that messed up her mind.
Testify to what? The boy has already confessed to the crime, and one of her siblings was an eyewitness to the shootings.
It is called a crime of pasion, unlike animals humans have always had it, pasion that is.The girl was probably his first love and he was probably hers. I can imagine dad telling him on the way out the door to never call or see her again, to him it was unbearable. That is not a defense, there is none, but a probability to his mental condition at the time.
No one really knows
how common child abuse is.
Some psychologists
think many children
create fantasies of grief.
Some psychologists
think abuse of girls
by fathers is frequent, BUT
such an AWFUL crime
that Western culture
can not face up to it and
pushes away truth.
If she was abused,
it wouldn't "justify" her,
but might explain her.
Oh please.
Or perceived abuse and it does not neccesarily mean sexual. Some kids that have a curfew think it is abuse.
