>>This is their way of saying thanks?<<
No, this is their way of saying "We're going to settle a lot of scores as soon as its just us and the Sunnis."
Telebani is running for office, and some others actually are terrorits. Don't forget the 'Scholars' are a faction there and old Mookie Sadr and all are part of that group trying to hammer out whatever that statement was.
It still has to be handled diplomatically. You deal with this group but make it clear that the government to be elected next month is the final arbitor.
Hold the histrionics until you find out the full story behind this report. It says "Iraqi leaders".......and it's a leftist media report.
(i.e. John Kerry and Ted Kennedy are American 'leaders,' and Murtha is a 'hawk' according to the left).
I do so hate it when freepers overreact to MSM reports. It makes me wonder about them.....
meet with them, annouce the iraqi goverment in it's wisdom and undoubtbly fierce muslin fighters to support them will now protect you and bring our boys home PISS on all of them ; they are doing the same thing Karsi did after a unfortunate bombing incident, see how long these esteemed leaders will keep their heads after we are gone
Fine. Let's pull out and let them kill each other by the thousands, just like the good ole days of Saddam. /sarcasm still on.
Don't believe headlines, especially if they sound absurd.
Agreed. They want a schedule? fine, do THEIR areas first!
"This is their way of saying thanks? You can't trust arabs or muslims, and this makes that point crystal clear."
It really doesn't matter what they say. If they want us to leave, good riddance. We leave. And in fact, we should leave more quickly than their time table calls for, to keep terrorists off-balance.
We won a lot of hearts and a lot of minds. Being asked to leave and politely going out the door is not cowardice by any means. No matter what happens, our military touched the hearts of millions and millions of people.
If Iraq goes to hell in a handbasket [and I think they will actually break the yoke of Islamic extremism and become Sin City of the Middle East, based on what's in the Book of Revelation], the worse it gets in Iraq in later years, the more they will wish that the US was still there. This may have been their brief, shining moment of Camelot, an ideal for them to aspire to.
No matter what happens, Bush can say, we toppled an evil regime. That's what's most important. The world knows that no tin pot dictator can scare us away with chemical weapons. No enemy of our's feels safe. Side with bin Laden, celebrate 9-11-01, and dare to draw our attention your way AT YOUR PERIL.
