CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES 'X' OVER VP'S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH

At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!

The 'X' over Cheney's face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.

As this DRUDGE REPORT screen capture reveals, while one 'X' flashed over Cheney's face CNN ran a headline at the bottom of its screen: "CHENEY: I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS WRONG TO CRITICIZE."

One top White House source expressed concern about what was aired over CNN.

"Is someone in Atlanta trying to tell us something?"

A CNN spokesman did not return repeated calls late Monday night.

Yup. Definitely says "to black". At first I thought "to blame", but that's a c and it looks like a k after.

I'm not buying TVNewser's explaination. I used to do television production in the Air Force for Armed Forces Television many years ago. Nothing gets on the air unless it is put up some where as a video source and the video switcher selects it and puts it in the program bank. It's possible the "X" could have made it into the video signal chain somewhere down the line from the switcher...but what are they doing with a large black "X" available as a video source and it appears to be positioned just so as to do a good job obstructing the VP's image. Sorry I think either someone was screwing around or put the "X" on the air on purpose.

OK, it's not a huge expose. But in 50 years of watching TV I've had the sound go off, the picture go off, the picture go fuzzy. But when have you seen a huge X and why did it get there? :)

I know you were being sarcastic about it being "an honest mistake", but since this happened repeatedly, they can hardly claim it was an accident or a mistake.

Also, FCC does NOT tolerate subliminal messages on TV?
