They Are Burning Paris - Will Moscow Burn?
Argumenty i Fakty (#45 1306) page 4 | November 2005 | political department

The European countries all have the same problems

There are now 5 Million illegal immigrants in Russia

At night, in the poorer quarters of French cities, gangs rule. They shoot at policemen and burn 1500 cars a day.

Last Monday the fires crossed the French borders. Now, just a few minutes from Paris, lay the iron frames of burnt-out automobiles in Brussels and Berlin.

Feasts in the restaurants, but war in the alleys

As was reported to us by Elena Jolie in Monte-Carlo, in those regions where rich Frenchmen and Russians vacation, all is quiet for now. Owners of these elite properties, however, nervously watch the television, and listen closely to Interior Minister N. Sarkozy's statements, calling jobless youths in the immigrant quarters 'dregs'. Then they watch the fires that these 'dregs' light in reply. "Our lives haven't changed a bit," reported long-time reader Vladimir Alekseev, who lives 100 km from Paris in the city of Provienne. "Even in the center of Paris, all is quite during the day, just a lot of police and army patrols."

In the Parisian regions where about a million immigrants from Arab and North African countries live, they are not just buring automobiles, but kindergardens, schools, stores, and police stations. The same is now happening in other parts of the country which are host to immigrants. In the morning, those suffering damages sadly call on their insurance companies. "If you don't bother them, they don't do anything to you," a female resident of Dijon told reporters. Many other French believe exactly the same, and they prefer not to stick their noses outside at night. This woman, however, has already been threatened with rape by 'black' fellows who live in her neighborhood and belong to a local gang. "I didn't make a statement to the police," the scared Frenchwomen continued. "Because they could burn my apartment."

Today immigrants constitute a large part of the populations of Germany, Belgium, and Holland. Russia followed this example in the 1990s. Our businessmen brought in construction workers to Moscow, at first Yugoslavs and Turks. Later they decided that Tajiks worked even better, while Azerbaijanis were better salesmen. Cheap labor, which never asked for vacations or sick days, was more important than anything else. This cheap labor saved the businessmen taxes, as the bribes were cheaper. Very few thought that these guestworkers would refuse to go home again, and, quite the opposite, that they would bring in their extended families. The Russian bureaucrats 'didn't scratch the itch' as long as immigrant ghettos did not appear in the big Russian cities, as they did in France. A few years ago, an immigration service was formed within the Interior Ministry, and this agency is now considering enforcing quotas of immigrants in order to avoid the problems of France. The government has created 'draconian laws' of immigration, but at the same time allowed a huge loophole in the citizenship rules.

Hundreds of thousands of poorly-educated immigrants continue to pour into Russia. For them Russian culture, language, and laws are just foreign concepts. According to Interior Ministry experts, in Russia there is already an illegal labor force, from other nations in the Commonwealth of Independent Nations, numbering more than 5 million. A few say this could be as high as 10 million. Illegals commit 35 thousand crimes a year in our nation. In general, Russian goverment agents who are tasked with fighting illegal immigration understand that this is a time bomb. It could explode, however, not in the distant future, but within a few years.

How would a Russian revolt end?

First variant: The original population of Russia drops by about a million a year. Showing up here and there, immigrant communities grow rapidly and fight for key positions in business and government, carrying out a 'slow capture' of the nation. Members of these diasporas begin to imbed their members into the armed forces, police agencies, and bureaucracy. The former guests replace Russian cops and the heads of the government departments. Soon, it will be they who are collecting the bribes and solving our seniors' problems, as well as dictating their living conditions.

Second variant: Nationalist movements in Russia grow in strength. In the Moscow region live more than half of the multi-million man army of immigrants. In those sections where the immigrants already feel themselves to be in charge, Russian teenagers join nationalist movements en masse. On Russian Unity Day several thousand youths demonstated under banners reading "Russia against the occupiers". They did not demand that the immigrants be picked on, but by next year there will be many tens of thousands, and they will be carrying banners proclaiming even worse intentions. It is naive to believe that one can do something about the growing problem of immigrants simply by beating up dark-skinned foreigners, however. In reply, these armies of immigrants will soon put their own 'warriors' on the street - warriors even worse than those Arab and North Africans in the Parisian suburbs.

Third variant: Ultra-nationalists take power through fully legal and democratic means, and those whom we today accuse of being xenophobes and fascists will seem like upset little children in comparison.

Which of these scenarios will become a Russian reality in the next few years?

The Russian military is much less tolerant of people ignoring orders whether they are the citizens or members of the military itself. They will not hesitate to use live rounds.

Ya' think ? Something like Paris breaks out in Russia it won't even require Putin's approval to issue order to shoot to kill. Local police colonel will probably just shrug and send the troops out to "pacify" the area. And there won't be any disturbances there for quite some time.

We could make a movie:

Is Paris Boring?
BTW - This was the title of the Mad Magazine take off in the 60's.

The signature block says it all.

Il n'y a pas d'honte être français. Il y a seulement l'honte dans rester de français.
(There is no shame in being French. There is only shame in staying French.)

burn 1500 cars a day

FWIW - This is only equal to 500 US cars a day; both in weight of metal and value .

The signature block says it all.

Couldn't agree more.
An iron fist is very useful these days.

... and the Russians invented/perfected the concept. If anyone knows how to do the "iron fist", they sure do. If our military is the scalpel, they're the broadsword. They have neither the will nor patience to pick and choose - and it's much simpler to just go in and "pacify" everyone.

I haven't been to Samara, so I couldn't tell you anything that you couldn't look up yourself.

I've a few pages of humorous observations about Slavs, compiled when I was living in Moscow, Petersburg, Omsk, Kiev, & Donetsk. Pretty soon I'll add a little from Karaganda: Russian women.

You'll have a great time there. Try to let slide the comments of stupid people about the states. Younger Russians are getting a lot of EU brainwashing, and the older ones still suffer from Soviet 'moral equivalence' and fatalist cynicism. Avoid discussions about world affairs, since they usually end with comments like "how can America believe in demokratiya when black people drown/US soldiers torture children/everyone is so fat/etc."

Over there it's good to have a thick skin and to pretend that you don't understand a thing.

Bring lots of 'skinny' clothes - no matter how much you eat, you'll drop a size a month.

A related article from the online version of AIF (8 Nov):

Mironov: The riots in France can happen even in Russia

Speaker of the Federal Council Sergey Mironov does not rule out that riots, like those that have gone on in France for the last ten days, could occur in other European countries and even in Russian.

"These riots could spread to other countries in Europe, and even to Europe. It would be very near-sighted not to see this," he said to journalists on Tuesday.

In Mironov's opinion, the events in France are a "large and dangerous occasion for the western governments, including Russia, to re-think their immigration policies."

"There is one conclusion - that Russia must immediately solve their demographic problems, and not though immigration," the speaker declared.

Premier of France: there is a real threat of terrorism in the country

The head of the French government, Dominique de Vilpen, spoke on Thursday about a the reality of terrorism directed against France.

"Nowadays no nation can consider itself protected, and there exists a real threat directed against France," the prime minister said, speaking at a conference titled 'French people against the face of terrorism'.

In his words, "the terror threat has never before been more strong."

"This threat," the head of the government noted, "is more serious in that it's nature has changed: now it is based on a complex organizational model, which includes people based in our territory, extremist preachers, who are often will-integrated and speak our language, as well as organizers who have access to the most modern technologies."

De Vilpen pointed out that the fact that "the terrorist groups use any means, including the use of chemical, bacteriological, and radiological weapons, no matter that these are forbidden by internation conventions, and the of suicide bombers."

The prime minister noted that the presense of a real threat requires the authorities and society to maintain "constant vigilance" and forces the country's anti-terrorist plan known as 'Vigipirat' to be maintained at a the red level, which is only superceded by the maximum - ruby.

One last bit of humor:

Zhirinovsky sees the long arm of the USA in the French disorders

(SNIP)...The leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, believes that a state of emergency is needed not just in France, but in other European countries as well. "The French President must find out who is inflaming all this. If this Americans did it, then France need not follow the Americans..."
(SNIP)
"The organizer of all of this is America. 800 people have been arrested, you just need to question them, and it will immediately be clear who is the leader of all of this...
(SNIP)
In the opinion of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, in this situation one needs to understand where the foreign influence lays, and where there are internal contradictions. "In France they have the best relations with foreigners. Here it can't be internal explosion. They have everything. They aren't hungry. So what's the matter? I could understand if this happened in Germany, at one time they were burning Turks and immigrants who worked in a hostel. There's hatred over there. But in France, where's the hatred when they're completely adapted? They're all from French Africa, from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria. They know language, they have it easy, and they adore them there. What's going on in France, this can only be the work of a foreign hand. The French just need to find out who is doing it. Because these are satisfied and not hungry people brought to desperation. Everyone lives alright over there, they are all well-fed, they all have benefits. What is there to strike about? You have a big recreation center called France. Someone has arranged all this and French intelligence needs to investigate," he said.
