FROM: Melanie Morgan – Move America Forward

SUBJECT: Major Drill on Tuesday – November 22nd

Friends,

I’ve been telling you about the national effort to get City Councils to come out against Operation Iraqi Freedom and demand an immediate withdrawal of our troops.

We’ve now documented the websites that have organized these efforts and suggested the tactics to bully Councils to take action and provided the boilerplate language to anti-war groups around the nation.

See the far-Left anti-military propaganda and organizing strategies for yourself here: http://citiesforprogress.org

*** WE FIGHT BACK ON TUESDAY ***

On Tuesday evening, November 22, 2005 military families will confront the Sacramento City Council – and demand that the Council RESCIND their recent resolution condemning the mission our troops are serving on.

Since the TV stations broadcast live at 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM we will need as many people with American flags and pro-troop signs in front of the City Council Chambers starting at 4:45 PM.

You will need to go to: 915 I Street in Downtown Sacramento

MAP OF LOCATION HERE: CLICK HERE for MAP

Then the City Council meeting begins at 7:00 PM and we need to have a huge crowd present. If you support our troops we need you there – 915 I Street (City Council Chambers are on the 1st floor and the entire public is allowed to attend and watch).

We need to rally as many military families, and/or veterans, and/or current members of the Armed Forces (whether Active Duty or Reserves) to be there. So please, help us by taking the initiative to contact anyone you know who is within 200 miles of Sacramento and is either a military family member, a veteran, or someone who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The TV cameras, print photographers, reporters and radio journalists will all be there, and we need a large crowd in front of the City Council Chambers for the 5:00 and 6:00 PM newscasts (when the reporters will be broadcasting live out on the sidewalks) and for the actual meeting itself which takes place at 7:00 PM.

If we are successful in getting the Council to back off of their harmful anti-troop resolution we will have made national news and sent a strong message that those who support our troops’ mission in Iraq and Afghanistan are now fighting back.

Can you think of a better Thanksgiving Day present to our troops in Iraq than to tell them that we are turning the tide here in the U.S. against the anti-military fanatics who have done nothing but criticize, protest and tried to undermine support for our troops in Iraq?

They deserve a win, and I know if we can get enough people to turn out, that the City Council will want to save face and back off – lest they be seen as thwarting the will of military families and veterans who can speak from first hand experience on the importance of our troops’ mission in Iraq.

Please – PASS THE WORD ON – we need a major turnout on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Melanie Morgan
Chairman, Move America Forward

I've heard that MoveOn.org has people in the newsrooms affecting the slant of the news. Do you think that's the reason?

Any after action report? I listened to KFBK last night. Pretty pathetic treatment from what I heard.

Council rejects calls to rescind resolution urging pullout from Iraq

By Edgar Sanchez -- Bee Staff Writer Published 2:15 am PST Thursday, November 24, 2005

Despite intense national pressure, the Sacramento City Council held firm late Tuesday by refusing to rescind a resolution calling for "a humane, orderly, rapid and comprehensive withdrawal" of U.S. troops from Iraq.

During the meeting, council members revealed that they had been barraged with e-mails, phone calls and letters from across the nation since Nov. 1, when the measure was passed.

For the eight who had voted for it, most of the messages were demands that the council reconsider the matter.

Councilman Robbie Waters, however, received mostly thanks for his "no" vote as the lone dissenter.

On Tuesday, the council again heard from people on both sides of the issue - even though Iraq was not on the agenda.

There was no shortage of people wanting to speak, but because each side was given about 15 minutes to address the subject, only several residents took the microphone for each side.

"Opposition to the war only encourages terrorists to press harder against our troops," Mike Volkin, who served with the Army in Iraq until about a year and a half ago, told the council.

"Your resolution disheartens our own troops" added Volkin, 29, citing "the immense improvement" that he said Iraq has undergone "in such a short time."

"Honor your country, and vote to rescind the resolution," he said, to the applause of dozens of people.

Other speakers, including Deb Kronenberg, said the council should concentrate on local problems.

"I beg you to rescind this," Kronenberg said. "You are not the state. You are not the federal government."

She said she was proud that her son, Marine Pfc. Justin Michael Kronenberg, 27, will soon be deployed to Iraq.

"My son would tell you to say 'Semper Fi' - always, always be faithful," she said. "Are any of you?"

The other side spoke of its gratitude. (snip)

Hay SierraWasp

Thanks for posting that Article.

I filmed Deborah Johns being interviewed before the City Council Meeting started.

Third Clip

All of the people that spoke for supporting the military were very impassioned and articulate. But the council still did not get it.

Unfortunately the sound is not too good in the video I shot inside the council chambers. I will post a little of it anyway.

Where the heck were you, vacation Boy...LOL

Some pictures of the people that support the troops and their mission:

The man on the left is a Veteran, and the lady on the right came with Deborah Johns and brought a LOT of flags!

Deborah Johns preparing to speak to the city council.

One of the Veterans that showed up.

The two ladies below are from Operation Military Support. On the right is Robert, one of the MAF staff. He was on the caravan to Crawford last summer, and also on the Bus Tour to Washington DC for the Support The Troops and Their Mission Rally.

Kiss Anderson and June Downum from www.operationmilitarysupport.com

These ladies have an awesome mission...they send gifts to the Military in Iraq. Check out their website; they have a programable bear that can be purchased to send to our Troops in the field.

The lady on the left below is the Mother of a Soldier (Sgt) who is presently in Iraq and has been serving for 22 years. The lady on the right has a Son in the Air Force who will be deploying to Iraq in the near future.

Joe, I went by your office on the way to the event. Don was busy with his son packaging up coffee and cookies and other goodies to send to the troops. Thanks to you guys and MoveAmericaForward for doing this!
