Well, yes and no.

The middle-eastern 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' is false, but the enmey of my enemy is a reliable short-term ally.

FYI
There is an interesting article on Zarqawi in the lastest issues of "Foreign Policy".

"A Jordanian doesn't stab himself with his own spear"

Tribal Arab Muslim culture is replete with pearls of wisdom passed down through the generations. "A Jordanian doesn't stab himself with his own spear" .... has a ring to it .... makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Do we have to describe the meaning of "if" to Mr. al-Khalayleh?

Could be that Mr. al-Khalayleh meant if Zarqawi, the terrorist was his son, he wouldn't hesitate to kill him. Article doesn't specify his relationship to Zarqawi outside of being a 'family member'. He might be a second or third cousin...

I guess we are supposed to get a warm fuzzy because his family renounced him. They made him what he is and have supported him for all of his terrorist career.

Now after he has slaughtered his fellow countrymen and threatened the life of the king he is being disowned. These hypocrite SOBs are protecting their own asses because the King may decide it is better to root out this whole family rather than leave a festering sore in hi nation.

Also, I am not impressed by hundreds of thousands of Jordanians protesting against terrorism after they have kept their frigging mouths shut as long as their own were not killed or maimed.

They didn't say a word when he was killing infidels. Infidels are not worth the trouble.

"If my son was a terrorist, I wouldn't hesitate to kill him," family member Mousa al-Khalayleh said during Friday's rally, claiming he spoke on behalf of the tribe ...

If only more Muslims took this stance.

Wow...

What this tells me by omission is that Zarqawi's family supported his actions... until his actions bit them on the @ss.

Had he ordered the bombing anywhere else but Jordan... his family would still support him.

Last week I wondered to myself if/when the immediate family would ever disown him, even though he did try to apologize in an audiotaped statement, for killing so many Muslims in Jordan. Their timing in impeccable. They disowned him after he released his audiotape statement.

-Zarqawi, whose real name is Ahmed Fadheel Nazzal al-Khalayleh

Geez, I bet as a kid Zarqawi couldn't fit his entire name on one line of the Big Chief Notebook. Maybe that's where the frustration began?????

There are other reports posted he died in Mosul. This might be the proof.

Probably Jordanian Intelligence agents grabbed some of the family members to find out where his "safe" houses are and they did this to try and get them back alive, and still mobile.

Read their statement carefully (even if it is meritless, given that they do this regularly and condone terrorism tacitly). They say that they oppose his use of violence/terrorism *inside Jordan's borders*. Terrorism anywhere else is just fine by them.

That's a valid point. I will point out that a fatwa against Zarkowi has been issued, one that grants permission to kill. That would transend the border.
