Punk Card Pulled: Murtha Humiliates Anti-Freedom Liberals
MND ^ | November 19, 2005 | by Bob Newman

I was on the air last night when the House Republicans decided it was time to pull the liberals’ punk card. In a brilliant conservative stratagem that revealed to America just how spineless the Democratic Party has become, only three left-wingers voted for an immediate surrender to al Qaeda in Iraq. Those were the only three Democrats to vote for capitulation to Osama. It was a classic case of "put up or shut up." The Dems shut up.

None of the three was Rep. John Murtha, whose transparent stunt the day before in calling for the United States to lay down in arms, retreat, surrender and then negotiate with al Qaeda, blew up in the Dems’ faces for all the world to see. Murtha himself refused to vote for his own cowardly demand.

The theatrics were laughable. Rep. Harold E. Ford Jr. of Tennessee, feeling like a tough guy, charged Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt when, at the podium, she told the House of a call she had just received from a Marine colonel who said only cowards cut and run, and that Marines never do.

Ford, being a violent, intolerant liberal wanting to beat up a woman, tipped his hand very nicely. Now we all know how he feels about that whole disgusting freedom-of-speech thing. Of course, had that Marine colonel been at the podium, Ford would have known better than to charge the Leatherneck, which would have instantly resulted in Ford’s graphic demise. The wannabe bully of women made many wonder if he has assaulted and intimidated women before last night’s thwarted attack. I found it fascinating how Ford was vehemently defending a liberal colonel’s opinion but attacked the opposing opinion of a conservative colonel.

As my previous column on Murtha shot to #1 on Google when the words "Murtha" and "traitor" were typed in, I was receiving hundreds of emails from irate liberals furious with a Marine willing to express an opinion different from their own; the opinion that victory and killing terrorists wherever we find them is far more desirable that retreat, surrender and negotiation with an enemy that has killed more than 5,000 Americans in four years. Death wishes and threats of extreme violence were part and parcel of some of the emails from the peace-loving liberals. One woman expressed how sad she was that my name isn’t on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, aka "The Wall." (I am not a Vietnam vet.) A fellow from Honolulu threatened to come to Denver to beat me senseless. He hasn’t shown up yet. Most liberals wrote to say I have no right to my opinion; they feel the 1 st Amendment applies only to Americans who share their opinion. And nearly all who wrote to express their hatred and intolerance said that a decorated combat veteran must never be challenged on his beliefs. Odd how they ignored my status in that very genre.

I wonder where the liberals got the notion that liberal veterans must be granted a free pass for life and never be held accountable for the words and actions after military service. Curious how liberals do not feel the same about conservative veterans. In reality, no veteran should be given such a pass. Past deeds should have nothing to do with current and future deeds and words.

Speaking of not backing up one’s bravado, what does it say about Murtha, a retired Marine Reserve colonel, when one day he demands in an embarrassing tirade that the Marines immediately retreat and surrender to al Qaeda, an act he demanded be followed by formal negotiations with al Qaeda, and the next day he refuses to vote for his own demands? Such a lack of intestinal fortitude is almost unheard of in Marines, who have a 230-year history of backing up their words with actions. The enemy bodies forming a trail of destruction from Tripoli, Belleau Wood and Iwo Jima to Khe Sanh and Fallujah attest to that fact.

I also received many emails from enraged Marines who want the traitor’s name stricken from the Corps’ rolls. World War II vets wrote and called into my show to express with crystal clarity their extreme anger with Murtha’s insistence that retreat, surrender and negotiation with terrorists was America’s best option. When America’s "greatest generation" goes off on Murtha and the target of their anger insults and degrades them for disagreeing with his plan for surrender, it tells me that there are still many Americans out there who understand what is at stake in this war on terror. And it tells me that we still have a chance to defeat al Qaeda, despite millions of Americans’ totally unsupported belief that retreat and surrender and negotiating with terrorists is a sound battle plan.

Friday night, the Democrats in the House of Representatives exposed their hypocrisy and unwillingness to act upon their self-proclaimed credo. The world now sees them for what they truly are, and that may be the best news for America in quite some time.

Yeah...they were all crying about how this deserves more time...and it shouldn't be done in one evening..and they should have hearings like they did before pulling out of Vietnam....

BUT, they had plenty of time to debate BEFORE the majority voted FOR the resolution to give President Bush the power to go to war, if he saw fit.

Also, the fact that Murtha and gang pulled THEIR stunt while President Bush is out of the country on a tricky diplomatic multiple country visit...shows how LITTLE they care about whether President Bush uses diplomacy rather than the military....blech

Murtha's traitorous behavior now is no different than John Kerry's traitorous behavior during the Vietnam War

Whoa there Spiff, I'm disgusted with Murtha,he has turned his back on the Corps, and I condemn him for it, but his sell-out to the left is not on a par with the treason of Hanoi John.

The conclusion gets right to the heart. Our enemies overseas and within saw that the Democrats will surrender to anyone. They haven't the guts to be reliable alliances in defeating the USA. Useful tools for propaganda purpose, but little more than that without a dramatic change in party seats forthcoming.

The "people's house" bowed to the TRUTH that Americans do not want to lose, nor cut and run. That came through loud and clear to Al Quida, Iran, China and all with the huge vote to remain. Democrats would never haved voted such if they didn't know they were on the wrong side in their rhetoric. They've also learned that no matter rhetoric in washington and editorial pages, the hubbub of Washington doesn't represent the thinking of ordinary Americans that were infuriated by the cut and run resolution by the Senate, calls by Murtha, and demanded our representatives stand up for this war, our troops, our president and this country's security as well as the Iraqi people. Guess we're not as weak, with this vote, as bin Ladin thought, huh?

Another genuine American war hero who was wounded in action was named Benedict Arnold.

Leftists don't have principles. They have strategies. Whenever they complain based on some principle, what it really means is that something is hurting them or their side because that's the only time they complain. Ignore their indignation. It's nothing but an act. And as time goes on and they keep playing the indignation card gets played again and again so selectively, more and more honest people are going to realize that they are only selling wolf tickets.

[Actually, Murtha is just liek John Glenn, a Marine who is a legitimate combat vet who turned tail in his old age.]

I'm curious how such a thing can happen. Do they get tired? Do they get scared? Do they second guess the way they lived their lives? Did they maybe do it all for someone else (ie their father) and at the end of their lives feel they were cheated?

Can you shed some light on this?

Thanks.

I have wondered about the same question, as well as why seemingly solid conservatives will begin to stray after years of consistency.

I think that staying in Washington for years and years definitely has something to do with transforming politicians for the worst. Take as an example my own former Senator Bob Smith. He went from a solid conservative and friendly, humble guy, to a egomanical power seeker, to an angry, embittered old fool who endorsed Kerry over Bush last year out of pure spite. I would wager that his 18 years in D.C. had much to do with his devolution to his present pitiable state. Many here could offer similar tales of conservatives who have "grown," i.e., surrendered their principles and moved to the left.

Murtha makes me ashamed that he is from Penna.

As a former Marine, I'm ashamed we once wore the same uniform.

"Murtha's traitorous behavior now is no different from John Kerry's traitorous behavior during the Vietnam War."

Yes it is....
Kerry's entire life is a falsehood based on his original treachery and traitorous behavior...

Kerry LIED and slandered every serviceman that ever served in Vietnam...
Kerry LIED and accepted decorations for Wounds and Bravery that were unearned.
Kerry LIED and THOUSANDS died as a result of an extended war..

Yesterday, Kerry once again showed his hypocrisy by praising this obviously unhinged former Marine as a brave and honorable military hero...

Is this the SAME Murtha (Vietnam Vet) that Kerry once accused of baby killing, rape, cutting off ears, heads, and ravaging Vietnam in the manner of Genghis Khan?
Kerry can NEVER keep his freaking lies or heroes straight...

Kerry is an undeniable traitorous asshole...
I await my opportunity to shit on his grave.

I wish I knew, maybe they forced their conservatism upon themselves to fit in, then, when they went back to their normal free way of living, their real person came out.
