Christmas Messages to the Troops
Merry Band of Patriots

Posted on 11/19/2005 7:23:52 AM PST by daybreakcoming

After this week's message of "cut and run" outrage this may seem like a small thing but one positive thing we can do right now for our troops is send them a Christmas message of support. No rants - just letting them know the ways that we love and support them. They need to hear this more than ever and what better way than a Christmas letter.

Working with FR's own Merry Band of Patriots, you can FReepmail me the message from you/your family. No need for your full name but your location would be nice so the troops can see these messages come from all over the USA. I will print them out of Christmas stationary and send them Priority Mail to our contacts around Iraq and Afghanistan. These contacts will see that our guys/gals get to see your messages to them.

LMAO - I won't even ask how that title got so mis-led.

patriciaruth said she only got about 20 or so last year. When I can get my democrat kinfolks to post their support and .000001 of FReepers.....shaking my head.

But hey - I have got some very beautiful letters to send and maybe there will be more before I have to pack them up.

She is wonderful. Here is another link, from WP no less. Unfortunately, this interview was given many weeks ago. She's finished buying, packing and sending all 700 boxes over to the 173rd so we are in no position to help her. But because of her the Christmas Season will be so much more joyful.

700 boxes. And I thought my place was littered with stuff from just 6 boxes. May God surely bless her.
Thanks for the link. How did this slip by the WP editors?

:)

Don't know. Guess there is some hope for the WP after all. Did you see the picture with all those boxes???? Whoa! She deserves a medal or two or three.

LMAO - I won't even ask how that title got so mis-led.

It was an intentional experiment on my part, and the evil mods were kind enough to give me some leeway. If there's nudity/sex in the title, FReepers absolutely flock to those threads.

If you have "Support the Troops" or something along those lines, you can generally hear crickets chirping.

Canteen Ping

Please read the story and then FReepmail your message to the troops to daybreakcoming -- just a short note of thanks will do -- so they can include them in Christmas care packages to the troops!

Please don't let me down Canteeners -- and more important, don't let our heroes down. This will take you about 2 minutes tops. After reading this thread yesterday about the Military fearing that the criticisms heard from home is hurting morale in the field, I am more determined than ever to do whatever I can to encourage our men and women with their boots on the ground.

Just a few words from you will mean so much to them...

I'm glad to see you becoming more determined in the face of chronic apathy, as opposed to discouraged as I did before. Keep up the great work!

In the interest of showing everyone how easy this is (not because I'm special or anything, here's what I wrote:

Dear member of the greatest military machine on the face of the earth,

Let me start by saying you totally rock!! I know that you hear other BS from the media -- don't listen!! The vast majority of us back here in the States (that would be the ones of us who don't have microphones to broadcast to the masses or newspapers to spread our words) back you 110% and know that you are doing an awesome job over there. I am so grateful to you because I know that when I go to sleep tonight there are many men and women like you standing guard so I can rest comfortably. I know that you have endured hardships and the anguish of seperation from your family all for me, and I can never repay the debt I owe you. Thank you! You ARE my hero!

StarCMC

Now ANY of you can throw something like that together ~ and mean it!! PLEASE help out!!

And please include your city and town, at a minimum, to show where the support is coming from.

Attention Needed!

Here is a chance to send a holiday message of support to the troops. All you need do is write a message-just a few words- and freepmail it to daybreakcoming (HERE). She will take care of everything else. So while you make your plans and fill your calendars with invitations to parties - feel good knowing you did something to thank the folks who are watching your back this holiday season. I know there will be a bunch of threads re: how you can help our troops- let us see if we can meet on as many as possible.. come on.. it will be fun! ;]

Thanks!
Thanks for the ping Star cmc!
