Congress Rejects Iraq Exit Bill

WASHINGTON — The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.

"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a Democratic hawk whose call a day earlier for pulling out troops sparked a nasty, personal debate over the war.

The House voted 403-3 to reject a nonbinding resolution offered by the GOP calling for the military to pull out of Iraq.

"We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said as the Republican leadership pushed the issue to a vote over the protest of Democrats.

Wife picked up on something else. The supporting Dems sitting behind whoever was speaking all looked like death warmed over in their negativity.

Yeah, the bobble head doll right behind him and the gum chewing goober to his left (right side of screen) were especially noticable. The rest looked kind of freeze dried.

House rules work both ways. We just need the Republicans to start using them now. Bring on the Filibuster rule !!

.....If I could kick out Ford Jr. here in Tennessee and vote for a woman that has the brass to call it like it, I would.......

She was on there yesterday. I can't remember her name but she gave a great speech.

Poor ol Ford. His Senate dreams are evaporating before his eyes. He slavishly voted with the other members of the Black caucus.

Cynthia McKinny is an active supporter of the enemy. Neal Boortz will have plenty to say about here on Monday I have no doubt. When a Saudi prince offered a huge sum of money to 9/11 fund with a resolutipn blaming the Jews and he was turned down, McKinny demanded the money be given to the Blacks and said she would endorse anything he wanted her to, if he would give her the money.

Agreed on the spin shows. But, Tony said that was a reason and that reason seems to be a little lame now and nolonger relevent. Further exposing the leftist shows for not providing balance or the other side.

His statement was that he didn't believe in the wording of the bill. Nice side step.

Sheila Jackson-Lee too. She could give Schumer a run for his money if there's a camea anywhere near them.

... do not fall for the attempt the Dinosaur Media made to spin him as a Combat Marine. He isn't.

Speaking as a former Marine and a constituent in her district I'm well aware of her opponent and Paul Hackett's role as a Marine reservist. He did in fact serve in and around Fallujah last November in his capacity as a civil affairs officer. He returned from active duty in Iraq early this year.

The Dems are doing this simply because we are now 14 days from success in liberating Iraq. I don't think it could ever be more clear that they hope their country fails.

Murtha now rivals Kennedy for the title of Biggest Fattest Loser in Washington.

So Murtha was one of the 403?

Oh yes! He's trying to pretend this resolution is completely different from his "carefully reasoned" alternative.

J.D. blew that out of the water with the NY Times, WAPO, and--best of all--al Jazzeera front pages with headlines screaming that Murtha calls for IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL. I'm still laughing about that one this morning.

What was funny was the black congressman who had to comment on where the Black Caucus stood on the issue. First reaction was "who cares?" It's a hard life if you have to inject race into each and every issue.

GOP should make some support-the-military ads with some of the speeches from both sides, and run them nationwide.

Too few probably watched the proceedings last nite. But it was rich with materials.

[The Democrats will now insist the vote was only a stunt and they will try to spin it as not serious.]

This stunt vote proves that the democrat politicians do not represent their base vote, they talk one way, vote another.

[Katrina hurt us for the next election.]

The left wing media propaganda assault hurt, the democrat governor of Louisiana and the mayor of New Oreleans were at fault and needed a scapegoat.

I agree. IF the complaint is not getting the message out, other means need to be employed.

Last night provided a lot of sound bites for future use in elections. The question is, which you already know, is whether or not we have the will to use it.
