Congress Rejects Iraq Exit Bill

WASHINGTON — The House on Friday overwhelmingly rejected calls for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq, a vote engineered by Republicans that was intended to fail. Democrats derided the vote as a political stunt.

"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a Democratic hawk whose call a day earlier for pulling out troops sparked a nasty, personal debate over the war.

The House voted 403-3 to reject a nonbinding resolution offered by the GOP calling for the military to pull out of Iraq.

"We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said as the Republican leadership pushed the issue to a vote over the protest of Democrats.

Funny how the Dinasours made such a big deal about Murtha and have totally ignored the hysteric Dinosaur drummed up about him in 2003 when he STARTED speing this crap. US House just told the Hysteric Leftist where they can stick their surrender plans.

Schmidt from Ohio.

According to Mr. Saliva(Chris Mathews), she “croaked her career” last night. Greenspan's wife was also very upset! ;^D

That was Jean Schmidt (R-OH) my very own congress critter. She won her seat this summer in a special election against Paul Hackett, a Marine officer in the reserves, who served in Iraq (Falujah). Jean Schmidt was quoting a Marine Colonel who had talked to her about Murtha.

This was an absolutely brilliant move on the part of the house GOP leadership

By calling the vote, every Demonut had to go on record as to their position

The Sunday talk show hosts had undoubtedly planned on filling their air time with long discussions about Murtha, his call to withdraw, and how many would follow the call.

Now all they can talk about is a mass rejection BY DEMOCRATS of Murha's proposal.

A lot of dead air coming your wy this Sunday...

Oh, and a note to Republican members of Congress - see how easy it is to play this politics game? Grow a pair and play it more often.

Mornin! You missed the 8000 posts last night during the voting. Be thankful Sunday isn't that busy.

The Democrats will now insist the vote was only a stunt and they will try to spin it as not serious. Regardless, their supporters have to be told about these guys not supporting withdrawl, which is what the anti-Bush people want. Three voted no and six voted present.

Murtha is also under investigation, but Democrats don't want to hear that either.

Yeah, I thought the exchange between Harold Ford and Tom Tancredo was also great. Ford, like the rest, can't handle the truth of their positions.

Katrina hurt us for the next election. I ain't saying it's right, just that we might lose support.

Katrina won't hurt us as much as it exposes Democrats inability to lead, and failure to do their jobs once elected.

Someone should cruise over to DU (though I doubt any of them are up this early - lol) and report back on what they're saying.

The Dem sites were going nuts in support early last night. They kind of came to their senses once some of them realized what was happening to them, and the bad PR they were going to get. Pelosi and Co. held them together at the end to avoid being seen as anti-military by voting yes.

This was all about Hillary. She wanted to be the "Hero" who was responsible for bringing the troops home. She KNOWS as it has already been said "many times" by the Bush Administration that they will come home when the time is right and that possibly means 2006, 2007, 2008.

She made a statement last night. The only thing I remember is: "I'm on the Armed Services Committee". Everything else was mumble, jumble.

Exactly. What they did was a brilliant move and I really enjoyed the WH press secretary comparing Murah to Michael Moore - LOL. A little much but effective!
