Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother's lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee...
According to a June 13 article in The Los Angeles Times, the fiscal 2005 defense appropriations bill included more than $20 million in funding for at least 10 companies for whom KSA lobbied. Carmen Scialabba, a longtime Murtha aide, works at KSA as well.
KSA directly lobbied Murtha's office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.
In early 2004, Murtha reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A company called Lennar Inc. had right to the land, and Laurence Pelosi, nephew to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was an executive with the firm at that time.
Murtha also inserted earmarks in defense bills that steered millions of dollars in federal research funds toward companies owned by children of fellow Pennsylvania Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D).

Murtha's not such a good guy after all. Sounds like a snake. "The LOVE of money is the root of ALL evil."
Kanjorski is bad news also! Just because Murtha was a Marine does NOT make him the Second Coming!! I wouldn't hit him now, but I would hit Jankorski!
BINGO! The LA Times did this story about Murtha's ethics and whammo he comes out swinging against Bush so that ANY investigation into his actions makes it look like Bush is going afterhim! Brilliant for such an idiot!
It is time to quit allowing the dems to rule our actions.
They will holler and scream no matter what we do.
I am sick to death of hearing everyone say - we can't do this because the dems will yell, the dems will counter with this.
Of course they will holler - that is what they do.
This is war here in our government and we do not cower when the other side does not like our actions.

I thought that NP wanted the military out of SF ...
The Pennsylvania congressional delegation is made of 8 Democrats and 11 Republicans. The state legislature is also majority republican in both houses.
And this ladies and gentlemen is why politicians spend tens of millions of dollars for a $150K gig.
The problem is that it has never been true. All the Administration has to say is this is an internal investigation and we don't have anything to do with it. I'll be there are any number of dems who, if they see we are actually fighting back, are going to think twice about what they say. I have no doubt that plenty of them are vulnerable on many fronts.
Frankly I'd rather they DIDN'T do this. It looks too petty at this point. They're on a moral and political high ground. They need to stay there and concentrate on the issues at hand; the budget and the War in Iraq
Perp walk.
Mug shot.
The whole nine.
Just some sarcasm on Pennsylvania, but thanks for the information.
How 'bout the Lady Congresswoman who got all dims' shorts up in a bunch when she said 'marines don't cut and run' or something to that effect. I never knew we had such bad-*** Lady Pubbies in OhiO. But, what tickled me pink is after the dims tried to have her 'words taken down' (and failed), they went back to calling the GOP every name in the book. The dims are soooo stuck on stupid. The Murtha debate LIVE was the best C-SPAM watching ever. Viva los Pubbies.
Er, I don't know about this. The guy is a hero no doubt. That doesn't mean he can't be pushed/pulled into saying stuff that isn't by any means heroic at all. The Dims are really good at putting the nails to each other to attain some sort of "unity". I think he just got caught up in all that...
"The dems are trying to convince the nation that if you disagree with the Admin. policy they will go after you."
And? So what?
If this is a bogus charge I certainly would not want it to be pursued, but if it is serious then who cares whether the Dems get their feathers ruffled? What are they going to do, call the President a liar?
BRAVO!!! Standing ovation for you.
There is never a wrong time to do what is right.
