Suspects in a Thursday morning convenience store robbery evaded capture during a high-speed chase by making a run for Mexico and crashing through a border checkpoint, according to a Brownsville police report.
According the report, two men walked into a Circle K convienence store near Boca Chica Boulevard and Owens Road at 3:16 a.m. Thursday.
The two men allegedly held up the clerk using a large knife and a screwdriver. They took $15 from the register, two packs of cigarettes and the keys to the clerks brown 1999 Ford Windstar.
The suspects fled the scene in the mini-van but were chased by police at speeds up to 90 mph from Four Corners and down East 14th Street, the report stated.
The mini-van turned on East Elizabeth Street and scattered a crowd of armed U.S. Customs agents and Cameron County Sheriffs deputies before crashing through a toll booth barricade at the Gateway International Bridge, the report stated.
The suspects fled into Mexico and were described as Hispanic males in their 20s with dark hair and eyes.
No arrests were reported at press time, but the report shows that the clerks mini-van has Texas license plates 254-CXG.

When they got a little bit out of civilization, why didn't a helicopter shoot at them, did they have American hostages or what?
Why not shoot to kill at these people?
BTTT
........robbing the stores Americans won't rob..........
It proves a point, doesn't it? I mean, how many Americans will settle for $15 and a couple of packs of smokes in exchange for an exciting international escape?
Serg, you need a new hobby.
Hey there, let's not forget they also made off with a 1999 Ford Windstar. Woohoo!
That's a very congested area. This isn't the first time a chase has gone to Mexico.
Well, they were hopin' for a "Chebbie"
What the f**&? No shots fired? Digital nasal blockage?

If I ran the USA our Border Patrol would be equipped with RPGs and rockets to take out such desperadoes. Mexicans think we're a bunch of pussies. Such border crashing was never done a few years ago. Wasn't done when Bill Clinton was president
Their respect for America has fallen under GWBush. He lets these bums issue their own Mexican ID cards here- called Matricula consular. Illegal immigration has risen during GW's years. The country club elites/ cheap labor lobby have zero respect for American sovereignty. As little as the illegal alien Mexicans/Central Americans do
That sure narrows it down...
I am thinking that they should consider 6" I-beams for their barricade arms.
Here's the hot off the presses wanted poster for them
