November 18, 2005 -- The world's most feared terrorist mastermind, who has been responsible for a two-year campaign of violence in Iraq, is planning to turn his sights on moderate regimes in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, where he intends to spread his ruthless brand of jihad. An investigation into Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of al Qaeda in Iraq, has revealed that the former petty criminal from Jordan has built up a formidable terrorist network that stretches from Britain to Afghanistan and covers many countries in between.
Once regarded as a brutal but relatively minor figure in the al Qaeda hierarchy, Zarqawi has outstripped his mentor, Osama bin Laden, who has not been heard of for a year.
Zarqawi commands more people, has access to greater funds and enjoys growing support among young Muslims drawn to his slick Web sites, which give lurid details of his latest attacks on "infidels."
A recent study about Iraq's insurgency by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington estimated that 3,000 foreign fighters had gone to Iraq to join the terrorist bands.
Now, battle-hardened, they form the vanguard of a "foreign legion" ready to take the jihad to their homelands in what U.S. intelligence officials refer to as "bleed-out."
The National Counterterrorism Center believes that Zarqawi's network extends to 40 countries and that he has developed links with 24 militant groups worldwide.

Thank you so much for the quote from Cicero.
It is a perfect summation of the current position of many in Washington.
When are we going to start executing these people? When are we going to end travel from terrorist countries? When are we going to take global jihad seriously? Not just our country, but all countries.
The democrats are positioning themselves, when and if they return to power, to blame all the future terrorism problems squarely onto Bush, while letting the terrorists get off scott free.
Couldn't this be considered as a sign Zarqawi sees Iraq as a lost cause?
I wonder how many of these jihadis have already crossed our southern border, waiting for orders to attack...
"(zaquari)...is planning to turn his sights on moderate regimes in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, where he intends to spread his ruthless brand of jihad."
Sounds like he is succeeding with this most recent attack on the shiite mosque. How long are muslims going to put up with this?
After seeing the number of threads on people who have been willing to shoot just common burgulars, I think that terrorists would have their hands full here. I wouldn't want to look ME if anything serious happened here.
"I wonder how many of these jihadis have already crossed our southern border, waiting for orders to attack..."
I wonder how many of these jihadis are in the registered democrats? How many are in office right now?
Since the time of Abraham and the saga with Ismael, Arabs have been conditioned to live under a master-and-slave scenario. Where Isaac approached Abraham as his father (and heir to his blessing), Ishmael (son through his concubine Hagar) knew Abraham as his master. In the same way, Judeo-Christianity sees God through the eyes of Isaac (God as loving Father), and Muslims view Allah through the eyes of Ishmael (as punishing master).
Muslims will eventually submit entirely to whomever exerts the most authority over them. I fully expect Zarqawi to eventually wear down the Arab "street" until they submit to his psychosis. Very dangerous and very VERY important that we bag his ass at some point here.
Unfortunately, with that mentality on the part of the muslims, someone will rise to fill the vacuum when he is gone. Nevertheless, I certainly agree that he needs to go.
That's a pretty small band to take on the Western World (not to mention Thailand, Indonesia, etc.). They can do some damage, but nothing major. Even a dirty bomb would only cause a few casualties (plus an unusable area of some major city).
Can someone attempt, again, to persuade me how this is evidence that only a "tiny" percentage of muslims are the problem?
I wonder what the effect might be if Murtha the Snake received 50,000 copies of that Cicero quote?
: )
Enemy at the gates PING.
Excellent quote -
again americas real secret weapon is the media and hollywood. Who distribute such a contorted view of who we as americans are that our enemies act on their preception of us rather than who we really are. That builds a false sense of confidence in them. We as americans have seen these guys as merly a fly in the room. They will do somthing to finally make us pound our pruning hooks into spears and we will set down the olive branch and pick up the sword. They will cry for mercy but find none until their is no more trace of them. We will salt the fields of their culture so it will not grow for generations. They will have brought this fight on themselves.
THAT is an excellent idea...I'm going to do it..and send it to a few others on my Crummy Congressmen's list...
