That's an understatement, coming from another Country Club Beltway Republican like Barnes...
Would you prefer Hillary Clinton?
I posted this because I though folks would want to know there is book out there about our commander-in-chief at a time of war.
While anti-American liberals are trying to destroy him and undermine our troops, I figured some conservatives would use this book to help fight back liberals.
If you want to join liberals by using this post as a means to complain about issues we have all already discussed go right ahead, but I'm in the mood to fight back liberals on the war. I would prefer not to be bothered by their conservative helper monkeys.
Use other posts to rightfully argue points.
Right now. The troops and our commander-in-chief are #1 on my list.
Hes a great man, and I think that he has some unlikely allies... like that woodward dude
Fred Barnes is a nice guy, but his best conservative days maybe behind him. Looks like Barnes is trying his best to replace Barney. Top Bush lapdog. LOL
Dumping on Dick Durbin is fine. But the thread is about a new book by Fred Barnes on PresBush. What mainly prompted my post, is the Barnes` uncritical responses to the Bush Presidency. Now I understand better exactly why Fred has been cheerleading for Bush. Also, the sub-title of the book caught my eye. It's not something I agree with. The President isn't redefining conservatism. I think Bush has undermined traditional conservatism with his liberal spending habits, historical expansion of the federal bureaucracy and his totally ignoring of the serious issue related to illegal immigration. While I support the President in the WOT and several other key issues, I don't believe Bush has transformed America.
here you are again...how 'bout that?
Thanks. Another great book on our President. Love it.
It's absurd to interpolate (badly I might add) my comments as being "Anti-American" or against the troops or the CIC.
"W" has fallen behind on very important conservative issues. I'll add border security and energy exploration to my list of things he has not focused on.
As far as "conservative helper monkeys" or your desire not to have "issues we have already discussed" brought up here on your persdonal thread I suggest this site is for such things. At least that's what it indicates on the front page.
Barnes raises some good points, especially about the goals/intentions of the administration.
Unfortunately a mime is probably a more apt cover photo.
Yet another new book on W! Yippee!
It is no use. There are those who appear to be here for the purpose of bashing the President. No logic will change them.
Sure I don't like everything Bush does, but like you said we have so many other people/things to focus on first.
I think he has been very good on focusing the US on making changes abroad, after many years of passivity while we simply let people attack us.
I don't like the spending, such as the prescription drug program, and as for the immigration thing, I think he chickened out. He should have stayed with the guest worker ("bracero") program that he suggested. This is a valuable program that was killed by LBJ as a favor to the unions, but close-the-border types shot him down and effectively prevented him from making any changes. They don't care about the Canadian border, which is the really dangerous one and the only one that terrorists have freely passed, but are mostly anti-Hispanic.
Because Bush wouldn't stand up, what we have now is not a workable situation, and the Dems (such as Hillary) know it and are going to throw the borders open wide when they get into power.
I think Bush's tactics in general have not been to fight hard enough for the things he wants to do. The only exception is the Iraq war, which he has constantly and rightfully defended. However, he does have principles and is willing to do unpopular things, but perhaps he's better at doing unpopular things abroad rather than here.
Thnx for posting it and look forward to buying the book
I can't wait for this book to come out. Fred Barnes is one of the best writers in DC.
I thank God PresBush has taken a seriously aggressive stance in the WOT. However, Bush has never been a confrontational leader on domestic issues. Bush has never vetoed anything and we all know he's had some good opportunties to shrink the government and limit the power of the feds. After all, Bush is the leader of the GOP and the GOP has been the majority party in America since 1995. When it comes to advancing the conservative agenda, the President and the Republican Party can do a lot better.
My post was several minutes after the thread was posted. The subject is a book, which isn't even out I might add, that's about "W" and conservatism. Myself and others may not agree that "W" is up to par when it comes to being conservative on some issues. Which in no way promotes Hillary (ack!, spit!) Clinton in any way shape or form.
