Group Identifies Abortion Supporters

For years Life Decisions International (LDI) has kept a close eye on Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in the world. Part of LDI's effort has been to keep an updated list of companies who donate money to the abortionist chain.

LDI's "Boycott List", which can be accessed at its website ists companies such as Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Company, Time Warner, Prudential Insurance and Wells Fargo.

LDI takes a behind-the-scenes approach to companies which support Planned Parenthood. Before a company is added to The Boycott List, corporate officials are sent information about the abortion provider and what it does, details about the boycott, and a formal request that the company cease supporting Planned Parenthood.

Those efforts have met with success. LDI claims that 116 corporations have agreed to stop funding Planned Parenthood. That has cost the abortion provider more than $35 million over the last decade.

"We have had several chief executive officers agree to stop giving to Planned Parenthood right away, which means we never had to release the names of their corporations," said LDI President Douglas R. Scott. "But many corporations need a bit of prodding before they realize the gravity of supporting the world's number-one abortion-advocacy group."

I think it's great that they are doing this, the pro-abortionists need to be exposed.

Sort of a reverse "Jessie Jackson" move... STOP giving or we tell. Since they don't hit these companies up for money like Jackson would, I think this is a good move.

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

To tell the truth, I have reservations about an organization that will not release their boycott list unless you pay them for it.

I am happy donating regularly to a variety of pro-life organizations, but I am suspicious of any organization that sells its lists.

Indeed, I wonder if they can qualify as a non-profit organization if they do that?

I would contrast this with a similar campaign a few years back in which the Catholic League wiped out "Nothing Sacred" by listing their advertisers with contact information and constantly updating it as ads were pulled. I donate to this organization, but I appreciated that those who couldn't afford to could still help boycott the companies in question.

I know a guy whose doctor told him he had better choose to abort his baby or both the mother AND the baby were going to die. They said he could at least save his wife's life by having the abortion. He stuck to his choice of LIFE and today both the mother and the kid are as healthy as can be.

Doctors are wrong in MANY instances. There are twice as many people killed each year by medical malpractice than are killed in automobile accidents. Tell you anything? I try to stay out of their hands as much as possible.

Between Unilever and Proctor & Gamble, a social conservative would have to go get their personal hygeine supplies from some obscure company.

And even if Roe V Wade were overturned Abortion on demand would simply mean buying a ticket to a Dem heartland state that legalizes it .the Federal govt. CANNOT ban abortion. I am sure "charities" would help "poor women" pay for the trip . Abortion stats WILL NOT go down . Don't underestimate the dedication of a woman who wants to abort. I think they would. Anything that makes it harder to do gives another point to ponder as to whether it's right or not. A great number of women are pressured into abortions.

The most important issue to me is that abortion is the killing of an innocent human being. The most effective action against that is to educate people to that fact. Most people won't kill if they understand what they are doing.

Roger that! I pulled a calf muscle about a month ago. Someone asked me why I didn't go to the doctor. I said why should I go to a doctor and have him charge me $1,000 to tell me to stay off of it for a while. The injury itself forced me to stay off it. I even made my own orthopedic shoe by taping a block of wood to the back half of my foot so I wouldn't use the calf muscle while I hobbled about. In 2 weeks I was walking normally again and could take the "orthopedic" attachment off my shoe.

Good job! I am a firm believer in self-reliance. About 15 yrs ago I became interested in herbal medicine. In '94 I went to an herbal school and took a 500 hr residency course in botanical medicine. I rarely get sick now but I can fix the majority of things that might crop up. And I can find what I need to do it growing somewhere not too far away, regardless of the environment.

I've never made much money at it but it's a skill that goes well with the outdoor skills, mechanic's skills, carpentery skills and others I have collected. And here on FR I am gradually developing some communication skills. It's nice to not be dependent on an "expert" for everything. It makes life more fun and interesting too.

I think your opinion on the true nature of mankind is too optimistic . Self Interest is really the most basic of all instincts.

Get one of these lists. The use of them has cost Planned Parenthood at least $35 million in the last ten years.
