Woodward Claim on CIA Leak Disputes Charge

Funny, how the guy's always got that Big Story waiting, pending the death of the leaker. Amazing that anyone even speaks to him, knowing that they're going to be turned into a mysterious character in one of his dramas. And if journalists aren't supposed to be a part of their "stories", why is he always The Story?

Matthews has taken to using Watergate terms like, "Who is the new Deep Throat". Richard Cohen told Matthews, "Respectfully, Chris, you're just making this stuff up." Matthews went white.

Oberman and leftist blogs are saying that Fitz never said Libby was "The first to leak" but "The first KNOWN to leak"... They're saying the operative word "KNOWN" gives Fitz wiggle room to still go after Libby. Don't know if it's valid but that is what the media is pushing.

This opening line:

"Bob Woodward's version of when and where he learned the identity of a CIA operative contradicts a special prosecutor's contention that Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide was the first to make the disclosure to reporters." - is not only a lie in regards to outing Plame but is instantly shot down by the second line:

"Attorneys for the aide, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, described Wednesday's statement by the Washington Post's assistant managing editor as helpful for their defense, although Libby is charged with lying to a grand jury and the FBI, not with disclosing the CIA official's name."

It's so blatant but edible as far as the left goes.

	I watched the bloggerman tonight to get his take on Woodward's statement today and it's hilarious. He made this point about 12 times and had two guest make the same point. Seems ole Keith is spinning Fitz's statement that Libby was the first official to leak Plame to the press, into the prosecutor saying Libby was the first "known" official to leak Plame to the press. Now, I can understand what he's saying and it is correct that Fitzgerald said "known" in his statement, but bloggerhead wasn't saying, "well Libby is only the first "known" official..." two weeks ago. He was saying that Fitzgerald proved that Libby was the leaker, conveniently missing the "known" at that time. Now please excuse me while I visit my therapist and remove the images of the last 20 minutes watching this idiot.

In his press conference, Fitzgerald did indeed say that Libby was the first to leak. The first KNOWN to leak was in the written indictment.

So, Fitzgerald got careless or nervous or carried away in his globally televised presser and went too far.

Big gift to the Libby defense team.

This is the attitude that really turns me against MSM and is one reason it is fast becoming a dinosaur:

Its all about Woodward. Didn't he have a civil responsibility to come forward before now? I guess it was too inconvenient for a media god such as himself, what with all the books he was working on.
