...College Students Rate President Bush Near Historic Lows, Harvard Poll Finds
newswire ^ | 11/16 | Esten Perez of Harvard University's Institute of Politics

Posted on 11/16/2005 6:11:39 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

A new national poll by Harvard University's Institute of Politics (IOP), located at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, finds that students -- like other Americans -- rate President George W. Bush at the lowest point in his presidency, and believe in record numbers that the country is off on the wrong track. With their mood souring, the poll also shows college students are less likely today to believe political engagement is an effective way to solve problems, and they are more skeptical of elected officials and the political process than they were just a year ago. Despite their pessimism, nine in ten college students believe that serving as an elected official is an "honorable" thing to do.

Also, a national poll of members of the DNC finds record low support of the President!! Similar polls conducted in Berkley, San Fransisco, Madison, WI, NYC and Cambridge, MA find even lower support.

(Not to speak ill of our intellectual superiors, mind you.)

He's also at all time historic lows among transexual, one legged, hispanic bike messengers named Jose who are here in the country illegally.

Some doubt about what? I just asked if you consider it a problem for someone to live a rather comfortable life. As long as it's comfortable through one's own work (rather than taxpayers), it seems alright to me.

Hitler was a hit with university students. So is Castro with university students in Cuba and on US campuses. Most college students are very easily brainwashed, which explained why Michael Moore and Ward Churchill are so popular on university campuses. Most "students" are there for the beer and sex and to get away from home, anyway. I would like to know where the students polled go to school, however. That would explain the results.

I am a conservative and quite frankly I would be giving the president very low marks. He is ignoring his base and refuses to champion either conservative principles or his own reputation. He is acting like and elitist who is afraid of his own shadow. I know he has trouble talking in public but its time that he does something otherwise we will see even more of this. Now is the time to lead not listen to whimpy RINOs which I have already determined that he is, I hope I am mistaken.

I honestly believe that Bush is getting his low ratings (across the board) because he shows no signs of fighting back the lies. To me, that's just as much (if not more) of a weakness as when he does something that the liberals disagree with.

this is no surprise, college kids don't want their parents, who are paying their bills, to give them any rules and President Bush is a follow the rules guy.

What's more, only eleven percent (11 percent) say they trust the President to do the right thing all of the time, down from twenty-two percent (22 percent) from Fall 2001 IOP polling.

Yes, it is garbage. The President polled 22 percent on campuses right after 9/11?

"What do college students know about presidents and politics? When I was in college in the 60's all we cared about was beer and broads . Vietnam was there , we didn't like the idea, but the MAJORITY of us kept our GPA up so we didn't get a "GREETINGS" letter ."

Well, I was in college, too, in the 60's. I was pretty much the same. I could see it was doing me no good, so I enlisted in the Air Force and served four years. When I went back, I found that college seemed to make sense, and I graduated with honors.

I highly recommend military service to all college kids who aren't getting much out of college.

You've got that right. I had some of my college professors proclaim their love of Castro in the classroom. I was astonished, but I've also had some professors in years past proclaim their love of Stalin (I'm fairly old). And you're right. Most students are mostly ignorant and will believe the first person to discourse on a given subject. Except I had already read Solzhenitsyn before I took the class with the Stalin-loving professor. I'm willing to bet that most of the students in the JFK class were mostly likely raised in ultraliberal homes. No surprise with the poll. They probably rated Reagan low too. Skulls of mush.

The wimp rinos would most likely not have voted to oust Hussein if they were prez. This prez is a fighter. Give him that much respect. Winning this war is the paramount thing in our lives right now. Rinos don't fight wars that must be fought.

You and I differ on the fighting ability of the prez. What have you ever seen him fight for? I mean really taken it to them.
