"We'd be foolish not to try," Simon replied, grinning toward Johnson. "You're sitting four feet away from the guy who ended Dan Rather's career." He's sitting four feet from Buckhead...???

Why is it that every conservative site is dismissed as a "blog," but every Leftist site is "part of the popular uprising!"?
For cryin' out loud. FR is not a blog and I sure as hell don't run a blog either. But according to every jackwitted idiot out there, FR and SCB are "blogs."
Ah, what the hell am I wasting my time for...

Not one word about FreeRepublic, the 800 pund Gorrila of the blogging world, even we aren't a blog.

Confirm Them! has to linked to us on its front page, if that's any consolation.

They are pretty big for their britches, aren't they? SO big in fact, that they're launching a new improved media with $3.5 million dollars and the help of the old media.
Simon used to be a lefty, and I'm not convinced he isn't still. Johnson is his lap dog. They seem to be trying to recreate HuffPo.
I wonder how much of the 3.5 million they personally received up front.

HuffingtonPost is a joke.
And I'm being charitable in my characterization of it.
Why someone as respectable Danielle Crittenden would want to be associated with that morass of a website created by obnoxious, ditsy Greek dilettante like Ariana Huffington is beyond me.

You post something wrong here and you will get plenty of feedback telling you otherwise. It's actually more effective at weeding out nonsense then what they got. You've literally got thousands of checks and balances that operate in real time 24/7.

Blog-concentrators will earn their pay, like any other business, by satisfying their clients. News and analysis consumers have perhaps an hour a day to spend on it and don't want to wade through garbage posts. But, as connoiseurs, they demand something more intellectually dynamic than any mass media outlet can provide.

You couldn't have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances... There are no checks and balances in the MSM; that's why we need bloggers.

A year ago, Jonathan Klein, current president of CNN, airily dismissed the bloggers who dethroned Dan Rather. "These bloggers have no checks and balances... You couldn't have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances [at 60 Minutes] and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing."
Yeah, the entire MSM fell for (or was colluding with) the Rathergate fraud. The only check-and-balance was provided by bloggers, starting with FR's own Buckhead.
If MSM doesn't wise up, they're going to die off. And given the decline in newspapers and cable/network news, they're losing the battle. And they're losing to those guys in pajamas.

Very late one night
Very early one morning I typed and posted B-36 when I meant to type B-57.
Within seconds another more alert and more caffeine soaked FReeper corrected my dumb sleepy error and replied with an instant correction.
That error would very likely never have been caught at CBS or the New York Times.
If it ever was noticied a correction may have appeared on page A47 of the NYT; at CBS never.
That even impressed my liberal NYC sister.
