Time Magazine: Blanco One of Three Worst Governors (Blanko's Response)
WAFB ^ | Nov 15, 2005, 12:09 PM CST

Governor Blanco had a three-word response to a stinging designation she's received in a major national news magazine. Questioned by reporters at the capitol today, blanco told them, "Watch my results" and then she walked off.

Time magazine has declared Blanco one of the three worst governors in the nation. The magazine quotes pollster Bernie Pinsonat who describes Blanco as appearing "dazed and confused" after Hurricane Katrina. Time hits blanco for slowness in calling a special legislative session, and slowness in appointing a recovery commission.

At the bottom with Blanco is Ohio governor Bob Taft and Mark Sanford of South Carolina. Who's the best on the Time magazine list? It cites Arkansas's governor Mike Huckabee, whom the magazine describes as "a consensus building conservative."

Not helping your case, woman.

She couldn't have said something worse - might as well have Dru Rosenhouse berate the press for the article.

Man, I'm disappointed that our IL Gov. Rod Thebagoshit isn't in there.

You're going to like Governor Blanco's brilliant response to criticism.

And is it just me, or is the fact that Time magazine actually got something right scary?

In Canada and other Parliamentary jurisdictions, a complete failure such as Governor Blankout is allowed to resign and thus avoid further public humiliation.

I don't know how she can show her face in public.

At the bottom with Blanco is Ohio governor Bob Taft and Mark Sanford of South Carolina.

I know that Taft is a disaster but I remember reading that Sanford was a pretty good guy. Does anyone know why he would be keeping company with Blanco?

So what if she is a lousy Governor?

At least she can cook a mean chicken and sausage gumbo.

"Watch my results" and then she walked off.

Pretty much sums up her "response" prior to, during, and after the Hurricane destroyed southern Louisiana....except, I'd only ad that, after walking off, she played the blame game.

Whoa. Wait a doggone minute! How about Governor Cheesesteak of PA...did ya forget him? His regular job is as a color commentator for the Eagles, but when he has time, he signs legislation to raise the salaries of legislators, judges and himself. Oh, he also works a little on bringing slots to PA, so it can reduce the average homeowner's annual taxes by the phenomenal sum of $300. Woo hoo !!

I isuppose she's referring to all the pork she thinks she's going to bring home to LA. But I believe the new bill to improve the levees to cat 5 protection will be the LANDRIEU levee protection bill. Like it's going to get done anyway.

MARK SANFORD??? What's he done that so awful? He's modestly popular (his lowest approval rating was a recent SURVEY USA poll showing him below 50 but with a net approval of +6.) It's funny they pick on a guy who is being considered for a run in '08!

If they wanted to pick on Republicans (except easy shot Blanco), they could've gone with Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, or George Pataki, no?

(Natch, I'd put Blogojevich, Granholm, Rendell and Gregoire, but I can't expect them to criticize a non-dead Democratic governor!)

It has been said that South Carolina's AAA credit rating was downgraded under Sanford's tenure, which is why they claimed he was listed. His spokesman said his refusal to raise taxes is another reason why, and that the nation's best governors raised taxes according to TIME. Don't worry, National Review has an opposite opinion of Sanford.

Well, as I live and breathe. Does this mean that equality has finally arrived and a woman is being judged on an equal footing with men? You mean that SHE didn't do her job and SHE's being criticized? Oh, wait, I'm sure she was discriminated against in some way. She probably didn't do well in a crisis because of all the cultural conditioning she received when she wasn't allowed to be on her high school football team, or was it the fact that she was kept out of the male dominated crisis training opportunitites that passed he by.... Guess what babe? You wanted the job and you blew it, big time!
