Earlier today I posted a thread reporting on Bill Frist's appearance on the Today show, during which he touted his weak-sister proposal for withdrawal from Iraq. Here's a link to the thread:

Sure enough, it didn't take the Dems long to exploit Frist's weakness. Check out the email below just received from John Kerry. Frist and his fellow GOP supporters of the proposal have no one to blame but themselves.

Dear ,
You can feel the ice breaking. For far too long, Republican leaders have refused to challenge the aimless Bush "stay as long as it takes" approach to Iraq. But now, their unwillingness to act has started to crumble.
Today in the Senate, facing a Democratic resolution on Iraq, the Republicans offered their own call for President Bush to come up with a plan. They didn't go nearly far enough, but clearly our call for a concrete plan is gaining momentum.
It's time for the next step. Help our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" campaign place billboards in the home districts of Republican leaders.
Help place billboards in Republican leaders' home districts
To date, over a quarter of a million people have signed our call to withdraw 20,000 troops from Iraq over the holidays. That withdrawal should be linked to the completion of December elections in Iraq - and it should be the first step in the concrete plan for Iraq that President George W. Bush owes the American people.
We shouldn't let America's brave men and women go another day without having such a plan in place. That's why we're turning up the heat with our Billboards and House Signs campaign over the next month.
Will you add your voice and your financial support to this effort right now?
Help place billboards in Republican leaders' home districts
This is the next key step in a grassroots organizing and mobilizing campaign that won't end until we've forced the Bush administration to act. The best way to do that is to turn up the heat on Republican leaders in Congress.
It's important to get our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" message out everywhere. With your help, we'll run these billboards where they can be seen by key Republican leaders of Congress.
And, to extend this phase of our "20,000 troops home over the holidays" effort to your own hometown, here's what we've done. We've created a downloadable version of the billboard that you can print and post in your own home.
Download and display a house sign
We can feel the momentum building every day behind our call for a concrete plan for Iraq. And our Billboards and House Signs initiative can keep moving things forward. Let's make it happen.
Sincerely,
John Kerry
P.S. We've got to act fast to place and produce these billboards. In addition to donating, I hope you'll pass news of this exciting initiative on to your friends and colleagues by forwarding this message now.

John Kerry = Horny Jerk!
Daniel Webster would have been a better candidate. I HATED McCollum, one of the worst campaigners I have ever seen.
Thanks, however, to those in #25.
Have to agree about the campaigner part, but I would have voted for him rather than Martinez. Heck, I like Nelson better than I like Martinez, and I despise Nelson. Martinez is sleazy.
And - regarding the "20,000 troops home over the holidays" campaign, I know for a fact that alot of troops are home or, have orders to come home. For example, the 250th Forward Support Battalion DISCOM (Rainbow Division) out of Somerset NJ has already begun to come home after being on active duty since April of last year. The last of them will be home before Christmas. But I guess they dont count.
The only thing crumbling is ketchup-boy's brain.
Agreed. I hope the Florida GOP can find a real conservative to run against Martinez.
Too afraid to defend our country under any circumstances.....without French approval first.
Treason is as treason does.
I posted on another thread that the dems are crowing that this is a victory for them....and you know what??
I am gonna agree....they can legitimately say that they drafted the amendment that calls for the Administration to "change courses"...because THEY don't like the way that Bush/Cheney/Rummy are doing it....
It doesn't matter that the "changed" version has Warner and Frist's names on it...it makes it WORSE...because they have the Majority leader's name and Warner's name on the bottom of a bill that the MINORITY drafted to tell the world that the Bush Administration has screwed up this war...
and that they want the troops home next year.
I hope you are right. I was new to the area and barely registered in time. I didn't know too much about the primary candidates. I did remember McCollum from impeachment and that was good enough for me. I voted for him in the primary. There was kind of shady business perpetrated by the Martinez campaign that I found absolutely repulsive. I voted for Martinez in the general election with a clothespin on my nose.
I just don't get support for Allen among conservatives. Sometimes he talks a good game, but given Clinton I distrust "talk" and look to action. I've kept an open mind about Allen and so far I see--
- Poll generated response on stem cells
- Appease by suggesting Talk to Cindy Sheehan
- Vote for McCain 'Protect a Terrorist Today' measure
- he might have voted for one of the cut the pork bills, but he didn't vote for both right?
- this PR disaster amendment keeping the administration's current operation intact but seuggesting deference to Polls in giving perception G.W.B. was slapped.
On measures he is good about I've seen no indication he's leading the fight. I'm far from Brownback's biggest fan, but no one can say he isn't out there on the Judiciary in front. Allen's in the midpack of support.
No Guts, No Glory. What I see from Allen so far is someone that watches polls and won't take a stand until public is vetted. That isn't a quality I want in my President. I want someone that will stand against the MSM and Dems AND McCain to do the right thing, and polls if he/she has to.
Sessions does that. I don't believe Sessions has any intention to run, but he's the mold of character I'm looking for in a candidate. That's why I had a tagline with Barbour for awhile as well as Honore. I'm looking for certain qualities thus far none have shown except maybe Guiliani and Romney to an extent, though they have their baggage with conservatives obviously.
I was just told that I forgot two Senators that voted NO on both amendments...so, please add Sen. Chambliss and Sen. Bunning on the list...
Also...I am getting to where I don't trust any of them...and I hate that...I am a little old to be finding this out. I have placed too much trust in the past, but no more.
I haven't found any reason to mistrust Sessions...but, he is human...so I am sure he does have some faults...LOL
My first instinct towards Guiliani is "NO WAY"..because of his social liberalness...BUT, I tell myself that he is great on the WOT...
and from most of the polls (that I don't put much stock in, but what are ya gonna do..LOL)...it shows that Guiliani is about the highest rated going head to head with Hillary.
Of course we want the BEST conservative candidate, but we also need someone who can WIN...so, we have a lot to consider in the next couple of years.
LOL! You know bad enough you were citing Kristol to buttress your opinion(s), now you are citing John I voted for the war before I voted against it Kerry?.
Kerry is living in an alternate reality. We won. The Frist Warner proposal changes nothing in how the war is being conducted now or will be during the rest of the Bush's second term.
The Levin proposal lost 40 - 58 which means as many as 5 Democrats voted against or missed the roll call. Big time win for Reps. Enjoy it.
