This isn't the real America (Jimmah Carter Op-Ed Alert)
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 14, 2005 | President Jimmy Carter

Posted on 11/14/2005 5:15:47 AM PST by RWR8189

IN RECENT YEARS, I have become increasingly concerned by a host of radical government policies that now threaten many basic principles espoused by all previous administrations, Democratic and Republican.

These include the rudimentary American commitment to peace, economic and social justice, civil liberties, our environment and human rights.

Also endangered are our historic commitments to providing citizens with truthful information, treating dissenting voices and beliefs with respect, state and local autonomy and fiscal responsibility.

At the same time, our political leaders have declared independence from the restraints of international organizations and have disavowed long-standing global agreements — including agreements on nuclear arms, control of biological weapons and the international system of justice.

Instead of our tradition of espousing peace as a national priority unless our security is directly threatened, we have proclaimed a policy of "preemptive war," an unabridged right to attack other nations unilaterally to change an unsavory regime or for other purposes. When there are serious differences with other nations, we brand them as international pariahs and refuse to permit direct discussions to resolve disputes.

Actually he's right ... this America, created by jimmah and his fellow travelers, where up is down and black is white, isn't the real America - but we're working on it.

the "other purposes" being the death of nearly 3,000 Americans on our own soil.

Hey peanut farmer, STFU!

With a lead sentence like that I thought he was going to take on illegal immigration and socialism over self-reliance, gun grabbers and partisan opposition to a war they fully supported nearly a decade ago under a president of a different party...

"Bitter old man" is an appropriate phrase. He did not have the decency to turn down the Nobel Peace Prize when the people awarding it were making an anti-Bush political statement rather than really awarding someone furthering the cause of peace.

To send your blood pressure even further up, check out Mr. Peanut's interview w/ Brian Williams on C-SPAM's "Book Notes."

If Carter had to choose between peace and freedom, he'd take the former at the expense of the latter.

As Winston Churchill said of Neville Chamberlain after Munich - "He had a choice of dishonor or war. He chose dishonor. Now he shall have war."

When this POS kicks the bucket, he should just receive the standard military burial and that's that. Any other statements, actions, or rememberance by citizens or the government on Carter's behalf is overdoing it.

"Also endangered are our historic commitments to providing citizens with truthful information..."

You don't suppose Jimmy was talking about the "Mainstream Newsmedia," do you?

You know, if the mullahs had the gratitude of a gnat, they'd name the Iranian nuclear bomb program after Jimmy.

Some people just can't show any appreciation at all!

Didn't this poor excuse for a President win a Nobel Peace Prize or am I mistaken? His ineptitude and inaction led directly to the state of affairs we see today. Bush and others tryhing to cleam up the mess left behind by the likes of Carter and Clinton.... and perhaps the misjudgement of Geo. HW in not completing the task after DS I...

Jimmah Cottah is a clueless, ignorant, backwoods dummy that fell into a bucket of crap and came out smelling like a rose.

However, the bloom is off now, and the flower decays and smells dead.

History will remember him as a ludicrous, naive idiot with even more clueless idiots as advisors and staff persons.

Jimmah Cottah is the epitome of the absolute stupidity of the democrat party today.

I did not vote for the damn fool, nor can I find anyone that will admit to doing so, so it is a mystery to me as to how the fool ever got elected in the first place.

While I was on active duty and the damn idiot was my Commander-in-Chief, I was unable to be as vocal as I wanted, because for some stupid reasons I could never comprehend, much of the leadership at that time thought Carter was going to be our saviour.

After a couple of his debacles and more of his stupid liberal crap came out, that support waned and persons such as myself were able to speak freely about the traitorous bastard.

His support by military persons, in spite of his naval service background, was about a minus 10 at the time of the next election.

And then, along came that even more of a damn fool, Billy BJ Clintoon, and I said the hell with it and retired.

Democrats have been the ruination of this country and it's defensive posture (yes, that idiot Roosevelt included) every time they've been allowed to get into the White House.

A pox upon democrats and the liberal bastion.

Right Jimmy, the real America is back during the great times from '77-'81, when the country was collapsing under stagflation, American hostages held in Iran and a military becoming alarmingly outdated and inept.

The times under your Presidency were FRIGGIN AWFUL.

The arrogance of Carter is astounding. He is easily the biggest failure of a president we've ever had. He should just keep his peanut hole shut and fade gracefully into the sunset. Instead he has to expose his bitterness and torture the American public with the memories of how embarrassing it was to have him as our president.

Poor Jimmah is still traumatized by his losing battle with the Easter Bunny...

Say what you will about that rabbit, but I'd vote for it over Grits in a heartbeat!
