Talk about stereotyping?? Where are race baiters Sharpton and Jackson? They should be screaming to the high heavens, but because it was CNN they'll get a free ride. They'd be looking to take the license away had it been Fox News.

I'm looking for a descriptive term that distinguishes black African Muslims from non-black African Muslims. I am also musing as I drink my morning coffee. What's your excuse?

They should be screaming to high Heaven, but because it was CNN, almost no one saw it. ;)

I know a South African emigre who got his U.S. citizenship while a junior in college. Marched down to financial aid, filled out an African-American scholarship application, and got a free ride for his senior year at Tulane.

They (black French) weren't rioting so what do you care?

Ms. Lin poses us a difficult dilemma: how should black African Muslims be described without referring to skin color, and how many hyphens to use?Perhaps Ms Lin could refer to them as what they are, Muslims. Who cares where they are from they are rioting so that puts them all in the same class.

Reminds me of the article written in the Univ of Mich student newspaper that referred to black South Africans as "African American South Africans" (as opposed to white SA's).

Hard to say, Lin responded, because its been 11 days since two African-American teenagers were killed, electrocuted during a police chase, which prompted all of this. What a great catch!!!
Flashback: November 5, 2005 -- It was already one week into the car-burnings when
1. Carol Lin was acting as though the riots were new news, instead of week-old news.
2. Chris Burns was telling her that the rioters were "little teenagers"

This as bad as the Brits calling Indians & Pakistanis Asians. When you real that Asians are rioting in UK the uninformed will think they are Chinese, Hindu, Vietnamese, what have you. When what's really going on is young Pakistani Muslim punks are rioting.
But the media hates to pin it on Islam, their favorite religion.

Maybe I feel sorry for Ms. Lin, and I'd like to ask her out for coffee? Buzz off.

The "shuttle-speed" mistake is astounding. My husband teaches astronomy and physics and likes to find mistakes in the news, to show to his students. I know he will appreciate that CNN image.

You know as much about the French Muslim riots as you do about trade deficits

Silly me. I thought this thread might be about euphemisms. I'd best rush off and bone-up on trade policy. /sarc

Well how else do you expect them to pin all the woes of the world on America? Sheesh guys, give the poor woman some credit, she had to work really hard to find some way to blame the US.

But the "old media" personalities still have no clue as to what is going on. They know perfectly well what is going on. They deliberately choose to lie about it. What scum bags they are.
