One of the centerpieces of President Bush's counter-offensive against his Iraq war critics will be a Republican National Committee commercial focusing on a speech given by former President Bill Clinton.
U.S. News & World Report says the RNC ad will spotlight Clinton's Feb. 17, 1998 speech on Iraq, where the former prez "guaranteed" that Saddam Hussein would use his weapons of mass destruction.
"Let's imagine the future," Clinton said seven years ago. "What if [Saddam] fails to comply [with U.N. sanctions], and we fail to act, or we take some ambiguous third route which gives him yet more opportunities to develop this program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to press for the release of the sanctions and continue to ignore the solemn commitments that he made?"
Clinton warned: "He will conclude that the international community has lost its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on and do more to rebuild an arsenal of devastating destruction.
"And some day, some way, I guarantee you, he'll use the arsenal."
Other soundbytes from Democratic flip-floppers will feature WMD warnings from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Would you care to give examples of this ?
I'd say Bush knows how to fight. Nerve racking to bystanders, but it has appeared to be effective.
Allowing his critics to shoot their best shots then come with a response. I've learned the art of patience watching him in his administration. MHO
Here's more info and a strategery....

These bastids are praying for enough seats in 2006 to push for impeachment. They've gone for broke and can't turn back now. Sane America knows that they can't be trusted to defend the nation... only a major Republican embarrassment(impeachment) would give them a shot.
The flaw in your post is how readily people will believe a lie told often enough. That strategy has worked well for demonrats and the lying MSM and Bush's approval seems to reflect that notion. That anyone believes Joe Wilson is another example and there are countless others. The lies must be countered with the truth. And often.
The truth will win if given a chance, but if the lies are never countered, the public believes they must be true.
>>>It's about damn time Bush started fighting back!<<<
"About time" is a major-league understatement. Bush waits until his poll numbers are in the 30's, and then he says what he should have been saying all along -- what conservatives have been screaming for him to say? This is so irrational it borders on intentional.
Mr. President, I know your instinct is for the new tone - but you cannot make nice with liberals, they have no conscience, morals, standards and will eat you alive.
You have to fight back and maybe if you show this kind of leadership the congressional wimps will support you.
bttt
It will indeed be sweet. Especially punching @ San Fran Nan.
I agree. The left has spewed so much poison and has "repeated it" , now the administration can finally combat the poison , taking away the excuse of the left"I misspoke" .
President Bush let the left paint themselves into a tight corner. (IMHO)
Al Gore, for all his faults, was out there continually fighting clinton's battles. The VP should be out there all the time defining the big issues.
Found: 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium Found: 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons
Found: Roadside bomb loaded with sarin gas
Found: 1,000 radioactive materials--ideal for radioactive dirty bombs
Found: 17 chemical warheads--some containing cyclosarin, a nerve agent five times more powerful than sarin
I was starting to think that Rove didn't have the cajones and just liked to shadow box.
Good plan though, let the libs commit themselves and throw everything they got at it, then counter attack with their own words.
I guess that Slick could blame the Noggins for his stance on Iraq but I think that a blue dress had more to do with it.
What Bush must do is be more convincing in explaining why Iraq is an important battle in the larger war of maneuver
I think they reason THIS is very important too is that the MAJORITY of Americans--so busy with their own lives day to day--ONLY want to think about the FINAL-WIDE VIEW outcome of all our efforts!
That is why President Bush Needs to portray the BIG PICTURE to the Public.--THEN--answer back AGAIN AND AGAIN,
But NOT in "answering" or " jumping thru hoops" or in response to Democrat Speeches or charges--but under HIS OWN TERMS!!
And WITH OUR 100% SUPPORT!!
President Bush :
A) this WAR is VITAL for Securing OUR National Interests and National Security!-and WE ALL in politics should be UNITED against OUR ENEMIES!
B) my opponents offer NOTHING !! Which is why YOU all voted ME in!
Darth AirBorne
( But ..for Bush to say that the dems only " SUPPORT " our enemies and HAVE NO PLAN other than a poltical Agenda .." is something the dems would USE saying " SEE! Bush is a DIVIDER! and NOT a UNITER)
I truly hope this will happen. I have been wanting this very thing for a while. If Bush does this, and does it strongly, then I and so many other conservatives will forget all of our small quibbles with W.
I will happily donate money to this cause. We all need to support this if it happens. The story is not manipulated intelligence - the story is the history re-writing traitors!
I hope they have a clip of Kerry!
Thank God, Bush and company are fighting back.
Where Clinton and the Dims are concerned: if you give someone enough rope, they either pull themselves up or hang themselves. The Dims will be swinging in the wind. Actually, the timing is good, let the Dims make fools of themselves saying that "Bush and the Pubs lied about Iraq" etc., etc., (like that idiot Dean today) then shove their previous statements supporting the intelligence and the decision to go to war down their throats.
BIG BUMP!!!
Republicans need to fight these scumbags and expose them as the hypocrites they are, over and over and over again until the words "Democrat" and "hypocrite" are as synonomous as, I dunno..... "Democrat" and "liar", for example.
LOL --- What intelligence did Clinton produce that supported his conclusions and actions?
