CHICKEN LITTLE AT NBC: DEAN DUCKS APPEARANCE WITH REPUBLICAN

Dem Chair Dean Ducks Last Second Joint MEET THE PRESS Appearance With GOP Chair Mehlman

The DRUDGE REPORT has learned from exclusive sources that Democrat Party Chair Howard Dean turned down Republican Party Chair Ken Mehlman’s last minute offer to appear together on NBC’s MEET THE PRESS this morning.

Moments before taping was to begin with host Tim Russert, Mehlman asked Dean outside the NBC studio’s green room: “There’s still time for us to go on together Governor.” Dean declined with a shrug of his shoulders and an uncomfortable cackle and then proceeded to walk away into the green room.

DRUDGE has learned MEET THE PRESS producers have been working to get a head to head Dean/Mehlman appearance on the program since Dean was named chair back in February. Dean and his handlers have repeatedly turned down the request. The former Vermont governor only agreed to do this week’s program if they appeared in back-to-back interviews.

I honestly think dean is on the verge of being ousted/fired. He can't go on like this...not raising enough money for the rat coffers and he's truly insane and maniacal. He's got major mental issues.

THANK YOU KARL ROVE...for getting deaniac to run the dnc! Let's hope our Karl can keep dean around a lot longer...

BUAHAHAHHAHAH!

We need Dean. Dean, frankly, may be the only hope of stopping Hillary. She didn't want him as DNC chairman because he will not send her money preferentially. He's not in the Clintons' pocket.

I don't think Timmy asked him if he was running in 2008 like he does every other guest on his show. Good sign that his political future is bleak.

Hasn't Dean said publically that he "hates" all Republicans ?

Maybe he really does.

What is incredible is that Russert caved in to Dean's refusal to appear together. If the shoe had been on the other foot, they would have told Melman either appear with Dean or you won’t appear at all.
In 2000 NBC proposed to both the Bush and Gore Campaign that they answer questions from Tom Brokaw the last week of the campaign. There was something about the proposal that the Republicans objected to(they were afraid of the liberal bias of NBC and Brokaw would mean softball questions to Gore hardball questions to Bush).
NBC decided to just go ahead despite Republican objections and broadcast only the questions to Gore. So essentially you had a week of free Gore campaign ads disguised as news in the week before the election.

Did Russert even bring up the issue when Dean came on? If he did, I missed it.

..Also If Russert had said to Dean appear with Melman or you do not appear at all, we will just do the whole show with him.
I believe Dean would have backed down the fact that Russert did not force the issue, makes it clear which side he is on.

Oh No......Dean is coming on by himself. What a coward. Can't stand the heat. Remember when Kennedy redid one of his appearances because he just didn't look as good as Nixon. Of course, we never heard about that for a long time.

Interesting way to go about it. Guess Hilliary doesn't want to get caught with her cloven hoofprints all over Howie's back.

You might check out my song parody H. Dean Got Endorsed by an AlGore as sung by Bill Clinton.

Dean's just wonderful at committing full blown public acts of political hara-kiri when Democrats least need them.

Dean reminds me very much of old Fred Grandy in Iowa in 1994. Grandy ran against Terry Branstad..ran a very tough, close primary race but lost narrowly. In his "concession" speech, Grandy melted down in epic proportions, blaming everyone from the Christian Coalition to voter stupidity for his defeat. He came across as mentally unbalanced and his political career ended in flames.

Dean's done the same thing, except remember, failure equals success for Democrats! Paul Beckett in Ohio..he loses a close one..but Dems say..he won! Kerry loses in 04..Dems say..Bush cheated in Ohio!! Kerry won!
