Jarhead Cheapens Vets' Heroism

San Antonio, Tex.Yesterday, November 10, was the 230th anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps. Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. Lance Cpl. Aaron Mankin, USMC, observed both celebrations from Brooke Army Medical Center here in San Antonio. Hes been here for monthsrecovering from burns and wounds he received earlier this year near Al Qaim, Iraq. I was there, covering his unit for FOX News when the Assault Amphibious Vehicle he was in was blown apart by an improvised explosive device. This week, I was privileged to spend part of this years Marine Corps anniversary with him here in San Antonio. It would have been nice to have introduced him to some of the fools in Hollywood.
Its pretty clear that those making movies in Tinsel Town dont know any real men like Aaron Mankin. They apparently prefer cowardice over courage; witless whiners to real patriots; gutless wimps and hollow phonies to men who know the meaning of self-sacrifice and integrity. Thats the only conclusion one can draw after seeing Hollywoods latest anti-military travesty: Jarhead.

It doesn't seem to have a direct link, but if you click the story on the main page, the review by Col. North will pop up.
I saw a commercial for the movie, but hadn't heard whether it was a pro-American movie, or so much leftist propoganda. I'll trust Oliver North's take on the movie and keep my money in my pocket.

This movie is making a lot of money and getting rave reviews from critics and viewers, unfortunately.

Unfortunately my wife and I didn't and she's been bitching about how awful it portrayed the Marines ever since.
Now, the other half of the story is that my wife calls my son at Camp Lejeune knowing that he saw the movie and he says it was pretty good, but not enough action. Didn't change my wife's opinion.

Rule of thumb: If the MSM gives it a good review, avoid the movie. They are not going to provide positive feedback on a pro military/America film. Bet on it.

Is your name Namvet, or Admin Moderator?
Besides I've had threads deleted as duplicates when clearly they were not, and I always search before I post an article

Best bet with a film like this one is to wait until it comes out on DVD. Then you can hop around in it missing the BS you don't like and playing the other stuff you do like over and over.
Or, make your own "patriotically edited" version, copy it and pass it among your friends.

Maybe you should have called the Admin Moderator on me too.

Jarhead is anti-everything that is good and decent. "Democrat Party" or "MSM" can be substituted for "Jarhead" in this sentence and the accuracy remains.

Saw 'Jarhead' earlier this past week. On a scale of 5 stars (5 best) the movie in my opinion is a 3 star. Being a former 'Jarhead' I felt the bootcamp depiction was fairly accurate but over all the movie was over dramatized. To much 'Jody' crap ... in my Marine Corps experience I never heard of 'Jody'. In fact when I was in the Corps 'OORRRAAAH' had not evolved yet.

This movie is making a lot of money and getting rave reviews from critics and viewers, unfortunately. I don't trust most critics and viewers. Most viewers wouldn't know a good moive if it slapped them across the face. And they seem to want to justify the money they spent defending movies they watched. As for the critics, most them are liberals with a axe to grind. Normally I don't care what any of them say. But if Michael Medved has something to say about this movie, I would like to hear it.

Put your money on Zathura instead. I saw it last night with some friends, and it was actually a very enjoyable movie. Much better than the Jumanji-clone that it's been portrayed to be.
