WMDs Found in Iraq
Human Events ^ | Nov. 9, 2005 | Human Events

Contrary to ongoing reports by mainstream media outlets, WMDs have been found in Iraq, so reports New York Times best-selling author Richard Miniter in his new book, Disinformation.

Consider these shocking facts:

• Found: 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium

• Found: 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons

• Found: Roadside bomb loaded with sarin gas

• Found: 1,000 radioactive materials--ideal for radioactive dirty bombs

• Found: 17 chemical warheads--some containing cyclosarin, a nerve agent five times more powerful than sarin

This is only a partial list of the deadly weapons Miniter reveals in his new book, Disinformation. Miniter systematically dissects the "No-WMD Myth" (how it started, and why it continues), as well as 21 other War-on-Terror myths perpetuated by the media.

"Not mentioned in the article were the 500 tons of low-enriched uranium, purchased by Saddam from Niger, that we discovered at Tuwaitha following our invasion"

Once again, we did not 'discover' it, we already knew it was there. It had been catalogued and placed under seal by the IAEA in the 1990s. I don't believe it was all from Niger, although there were some purchases from there documented in the early 1980's.

"nor did it mention the full set of bomb blueprints, along with critical centrifuge components, that Dr. Mahdi Obeidi was ordered to bury and hide in the garden of his Baghdad home?(The centrifuges were needed to turn the unranium into bomb-grade material.)"

Also not really a discovery, in that Obeidi turned the documents over to the US in return for an entry visa. By Obeidi's own account, the materials were buried in 1991 dating from the research programme that was ended then and never re-started. His view, expressed in his book, was that Saddam would have re-started it if he could have found the opportunity, but says that this is only conjecture on his part.

I really don't know why the Bush administration let the Dems get away with all the lies.

I would imagine there is a reason behind it. For instance, if the administration fears that we haven't found it all, it's better to take the hits and convince the terrorists it doesn't exist rather than have the whole place swarming with people attempting to find them before we do.

Perhaps once the Iraqis get strong enough to handle it, the whole truth will come out. In the meantime, there is horrendous damage being done to the presidency. The only thing that would motivate this president to take that damage (not just to himself, but to the very presidency) is the safety of the American people. He trusted the American people to keep things straight, but it looks like they have let him down.

Wrong - The American public have not let this CIC down, the reality is it reelected him based much because of his leadership on the GWOT (which most certainly includes Iraq, which is essential to the GWOT).

Don't allow a bunch of meaningless MSM fake polls to spin you - The reality is the one real poll was taken last November and GWB was reelected with more votes then any President in history...in one of the largest turnout elections in modern history (a fact the MSM and DEM's said was impossible for a Republican to win...a high turnout election).

The public is still fully behind the GWOT (when kept informed of our progress and when the WH and RNC step up and fight back from all the lies and spin put out by the MSM / DEM's)

Since it won't appear in the emails, notes or phone calls made by the administration during the prelude to war... it will not be evidence in the impeachment hearings.

The next three years will be nothing but an assaualt on Bush, until a special-prosecutor is named. BET THE BANK!

Yes, all that uranium at Tuwaitha is being ignored too.

But didn't the IAEA inspectors allow that? If Bush used that for a reason for war, it's pretty bad, since it was known for a decade and his father would have been to blame.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if President Bush gave a press conference composed entirely of remarks from Clinton and the Dems. Then, just let the press realize it and let it become The Story.

It won't matter. Some time ago, perhaps two months back, talk host Lars Larson had an opportunity to speak with Rummy and asked him why the administration isn't talking about the WMD evidence actually found and quietly reported about. Rummy said it wasn't his decision to make.

I have NO IDEA what the administration's political or policy game is on letting the "WMD=lies" mythology fester.

You have to be on to the thinking.

If they can't show overwhelming evidence of post Gulf War '91 WMD weapons, materials, programs, research, etc. then they just quietly ignore these things as they are found.

Never mind whether it was illegal or had been hidden but people just see it was obtained in the 80's or what have you and laugh it off.

Miniter systematically dissects the "No-WMD Myth" (how it started, and why it continues)
So how did it start, and why, particularly, does it continue?

I recall that too, near the beginning of the war. I heard/read it only once and never heard it again in the media. In fact I went looking for the article(s) and could no longer find any. They were literally dumping much of the chemicals under the cover of those oil fires around the city.

Without a doubt everyone of these facts should be, being reported more by the MSM (should have been reported more about over the past 2 years, I should say).

The whole picture regarding the WMD equation has been so perverted to this date - By both sides - Well not by the WH but by those on the left and MSM (especially)....but also by some on the right who insist certain things had to be there or were moved (that in reality didn't necessarily have to be there, nor have we found evidence of. Meaning an up and running WMD operation to the level we expected to find when we moved in).

But this is an area where some things are known, others aren't still known and as SECDEF Rumsfled put it so well, there are other things we still know we don't know, as well as things regarding this issue we don't even know we aren't aware we don't know at this time.

The WH hasn't handled the WMD equation bad except for the fact that they allowed the MSM & DEM's to rewrite history suggesting it was the only reason we went into Iraq to removed Saddam. WMD's were NOT the only reason we went it, they were only one of more then a dozen very valid reasons we moved on Iraq. Furthermore it was not solely to "find" these WMD's it was also to prevent Saddam from ever producing more and using the WMD bluff card. We have certainly accomplished this goal of the WMD equation (which is never discussed).

Talk about a WEAPON of MASS DESTRUCTION!

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star,
Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, they worked from 8 til 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa....they fell in love.

(Love....Copacabana....)

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond.
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there
And when she finished, he called her over,
But Rico went a bit too far,
Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gunshot
But just who shot who?

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the Copa....she lost her love.

Copa... Copacabana... music and passion... always the fashion...

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl,
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show.
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola,
Still in the dress she used to wear,
Faded feathers in her hair.
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind.
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony,
Now she's lost her mind!

At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana (Copacabana)
The hottest spot north of Havana (here)
At the Copa (CO!), Copacabana
Music and passion were always in fashion
At the Copa....don't fall in love.

Amazing, isn't it?

I remember reading a story shortly after the invasion that stated our troops had found a 14 building complex NW of Baghdad that was so "hot", radioactively speaking, that they could not even enter the buildings. I never heard anymore about it after that one report. I wonder what the real story was there? That kind of radiation has to have come from HEU or HEP.

Huh?

That would be like having the police get a warrant for you having illegal firearms, knowing you have a legal gun (registered, even!)...and then after they knock down your door and find no other gun, they say, "See! He has a gun!" while they point to your only one.
