My prediction is that after the speech, he will be blasted even more. Speeches aren't going to change anything. It's going to take a major effort by the GOP to counter the lies from the left. Frankly , the gonadless GOP doesn't have it in them. They're like Chirac sitting around cutting the cheese while bad things happen, and then eventually giving a speech.

My point is, what does he have to lose??? If he can't run again, and his approval ratings are in the toilet...just come out with guns blazing!

Fox News just showed some live video of our V.P. and his wife. I think they were going to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns?
Anyway, Fox stated the VP was going to make some remarks soon.

I hope he got Zell Miller to write this speech. He should make a speech at a military base almost every day of the week bashing the Dems.

Fire Scott McClellan and replace him with Zell Miller.

I hope and pray he's got it memorized well and has a good delivery. He's good when he speaks from his heart & he needs to do it more often.

Thanks for the ping. I'll be back at noon to join you all.

I've heard the president is going to take on the critics on the left regarding WMD and the war in Iraq.

We on FR have done a better job defending the administration and its policies than the administration or the Republicans in Congress have done. It's resulted in a drastic reduction of support for the war and lowered the morale of the troops.

Let's pray the administration reminds the left and American public that:

1) the former Clinton administration Justice Department said there was a relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda when their federal indictment of Osama bin Laden specifically mentioned OBL's agreement not to attack Iraq in exchange for weapons development. (So much for the leftist lie that Al Qaeda wasn't in Iraq before the war).

2) The MSM wrote dozens and dozens of articles in the 90's about the world's alarm at the growing relationship between Saddam and OBL.

3) How about a commercial showing all the leftists talking about the danger that Iraq's WMD posed to the United States? They all sure seemed concerned in 1998 after Clinton signed the Iraqi Liberation Act.

4) While we're at it, how about a film clip of John Lyin' Kerry saying in 1998, while on ABC, that he wanted American boots on the ground to force regime change and he knew the allies wouldn't support the effort but it was important to do anyway.

It's a loooong list of lies the left has told -- it's about time to expose them. It's the very LEAST that this administration owes the men and women who are sacrificing their very lives to defend us. Now it's time to defend their mission.

Scott McClellan. The. Worst. Press. Secretary. Ever.

I agree with your sentiments. However, I seriously doubt that our President will use this day to lambast the dims....

Fox is saying that he will speak in strong terms about the criticism.

The question remains, are his strong terms - strong terms?

Agreed. I keep/kept thinking there was a reason for the silence and something was coming.

I hope this is the something.

Remember EARLY on in Iraq, warehouses of files were found?

I remember on those threads that one newsoutlet/reporter was going to be able to present that info when the time was right.

I hope that was part of the reason for this long silence too.

Mr. President, I have written your speech.

"My fellow Americans...

In the last few weeks, we have seen an intensification of attacks and accusations by the media on myself and my administration. It seems they have short memories. I can find at least one quote from every Democrat Congressman, Senator, and pundit, as well as President Clinton, confirming what I've said and what we all KNEW back in the 1990s-that Saddam Hussein either had WMD's, or had the intention and ability to develop and use them as he already had used them against the Kurds 15 years ago.

The mainstream media is not representative of the majority of Americans. I personally believe they have another agenda that is contradictory to what America stands for. The so-called "leak" of CIA agent Valerie Plame is nothing more than another excuse to attempt to undermine my administration. Valerie Plame is not, and never was, a covert agent. Might I add that her husband is a staunch Democrat. I find that interesting, to say the least. The REAL leak that needs to be investigated, is the one where our ability to detain and question terrorists around the world has been compromised by someone in the government or media-the so-called "black prisons" story-THIS is what must be investigated. US Security has been compromised and we must find out who, and how.

I also demand the public know the truth about Able Danger, and I commend Congressman Weldon for his work in this matter."

Unfortunately, as I commented during the Miers debacle, I believe that W jumped the shark due to a culmination of the following:

a) NOT enough troops during the initial phase of the Iraq invasion in order to close down the borders and quickly pacify the country (doing it on the cheap per Rumsfeld);

b) LACKING the political spine to close the borders (not willing to stand up to big business; "sell us the rope to hang themselves");

c) SPENDING like a drunken sailor;

d) TOO EASILY rolled over the judicial nominees for the appellate courts (should have forced Frist to show a pair and caucused to employ the nuclear option);

e) TOO APOLOGETIC over Abu Grahib and other issues; and,

f) FINALLY nominating someone like Miers who, I'm sure, is a nice person but having to great a conflict/crony aura about her.

I sincerely don't know how he can extricate himself. I sure as hell don't want to use the words mission creep, quagmire, or "another Vietnam," but Bush has got to get a handle on the situation and tell the Iraqi people to put up or shut up, and also have a little behind the scenes talk with Syria, Pakistan and Iran, that: 1- No more border B.S. reminescent of Cambodia, 2- Get Bin Laden now, and 3- Get Zaquari now(msp?).

We can't let 2,000 plus of our finest to die for this morass. We have got to get extremely serious or get the hell out of there. This inbetween crap is what happened over 30 years ago. Let them fight or bring them home.

President Bush asking Cheney to lay the wreath at tomb of the unknowns, shows to me they are not listening to the dims, and they are taking care of business. Libby might be excused for the charges brought before him. Just beacuse MSM and libs tell the Republicans what to do and who to fire, means the Bush Admin, listens to their spewing.

GO CHENEY, GO W.... Go RICE. I support you all.
