I think the Dems should narrow things down and tell us what ISN'T Bush's fault.

I wish taxpayers could fire all of Amtrak.

ROTFL! The board fires him but it's Bush's fault. The RATS are paranoid to the point of sickness.

Amtrak has never made money in its 34-year history. An operating loss of more than $550 million was expected for the budget year that ended Sept. 30. The railroad has a debt of more than $3.5 billion.

Just give them an increased budget and one more year, they will get it right!

"Democrats criticized Gunn's ouster and questioned whether the firing was legal, contending it was part of a Bush administration effort to kill national rail service. "

Another moronic statement by the left. I wish Bush would defend himself...or find some sharp-tongued person to do it for him.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., praised Gunn as "a brilliant manager" and said his firing "decapitated Amtrak."

Yeah... He was "brilliant" because he agreed with Chuck.

Hey, Chuckie....when was the last time YOU took Amtrak from DC to NY?

Good riddance, Gunn.

2+2 will not equal 6 no matter whom they put in as Amtrak's president. Gunn's performance in an impossible situation is not the problem, something else is afoot here. Don't know exactly what, maybe they're going to let it die after all, but pretend they're trying to save it.

I recently tried to book passage on a train from Ft Walton Beach to Orlando. I know the train runs the route, it's part of the Sunset Limited that goes to Los Angeles.

Anyhow, the Amtrack online reservation system kept telling me that I had to pick a different date and time. No matter what I chose.

Exasperated I searched the internet and found that Amtrak had decided that since the tracks were torn up in MS and Louisiana, thereby preventing the Sunset Limited from going all the way to Los Angeles, they just canceled the whole damn train altogether east of the Texas.

Of course they couldn't be bothered to put that on THEIR OWN WEBSITE!!
