Terry Bradshaw wants to buy Saints
SHREVEPORT - Woodlawn High, Louisiana Tech and Pittsburgh Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw is interested in putting together an ownership group to buy the New Orleans Saints to keep the team in Louisiana.
"I'm supporting the citizens of Louisiana who don't deserve to lose the Saints because of a hurricane," Bradshaw said Wednesday in Shreveport.
The former quarterback, here to be inducted into the Walk of Stars and witness the installation of the first sign marking the new "Terry Bradshaw Passway" on Inner Loop 3132, said he has used his on-air spot with Fox NFL Sunday to speak for his home state.
The Saints have played games in San Antonio and Baton Rouge in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's damage to the Superdome.
Bradshaw admits he doesn't have the money to buy the team, but said he is searching for additional investors before talking to Saints owner Tom Benson.
"I have pursued other avenues to find out if Mr. Benson would be interested in selling the Saints. I had to make sure I lined up the money. You've got to find out what Mr. Benson wants first."
Bradshaw didn't name other potential investors.
Benson has said he intends to keep the Saints in New Orleans. NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue has taken an active role in discussions between the Saints and the Louisiana governor's office.
Bradshaw acknowledged Tagliabue's efforts, but said there is likely dealing going on behind the scenes to move the Saints "not necessarily to San Antonio, but more likely to Los Angeles and sell it to a group of investors there."
The NFL has no comment on Bradshaw's interest, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. "We are focused on the Saints in Louisiana, including possible arrangements for their home playing schedule in 2006. No decisions have been made," he responded to an e-mail.

I love this idea!!!!!!
Yep, me too, great idea!
Don't forget though.....Terry Bradshaw lives in Teaxs.
Wonder if he's thinking of moving them to Shreveport?

I knew there was a catch. Did Bradshaw stop taking his psycho meds?
Terry better make sure he has enough local population to support the team. Something tells me that New Orleans will only come back as a shell of it's former self.
"If he came ridin' in, long hair flyin' in the wind, would they love him down in Shreveport today?"
Actually I believe he is going to lead an investment group to buy the team..much like George W. Bush did when he lead a group to buy the baseball team, the Texas Rangers, in the early nineties..

Ah, but a gentleman in Ruston, LA by the name of James Davison could write a check for the whole enchillada today.
Bradshaw reportedly met with him yesterday per today's Monroe paper.
You got that right! If I were Bradshaw, I'd start by calling on Mike Foster. He at least should have a rolodex filled with high rollers in Louisiana, not to mention he's loaded in his own right.
Good for Terry. He's a likeable guy.
Not necessarily. Green Bay is still smaller than the remaining population of the NO metro area, and sells out every home game. The Saints season ticket base is not limited to just NOLA, but encompasses an area from Lafayette in the west to Mobile in the east, and much of Mississippi. If they know that Benson's out of the picture, and the Saints are staying, they'll keep buying those tickets.
True, but Green Bay is a bit of a phenomenon in itself. Publicly owned... and a fanatic public at that.
He should pitch it to the Google Guys.
