I am going to walk into Wal-Mart and go tell the manager Merry Christmas and let him or her know I am leaving there empty handed.

Seems like Sam Walton's PR Blackout policy needs to be revised a bit...
Any FReepers out there with WAL-MART ties able to set the record straight?
I can't believe they'd dump "Christmas", it's just not good business and really bad press...

It is an absolute shame that Walmart will give in to the multicultural notion that, in the pursuit of multiculturalism, says the only holiday you cannot specifically mention is Christmas.
Does anyone have contact info for Walmart's corporate head quarters?

Their policy seems reasonable to me. They're not banning Christmas, as have other store chains. They're just going after potential customers who don't happen to celebrate Christmas. That's just good business sense.

Whatever. The anti-WalMart folks will be all for it, the WalMart shoppers will wonder what the big deal is.
Any word on the Salvation Army bell ringers at Target yet?

Why can't Christmas be called Christmas? It's a religious holiday. Everyone is invited to celebrate a birth that changed the world...

All I know is that I went into Wal-Mart over the weekend to buy some Christmas lights and they had a huge section of Christmas stuff already. It doesn't seem that they are banning Christmas in New England, anyhow.
Maybe it's a regional thing.

The Wal-Mart down the road has it's Holiday stuff out already. I don't really care if they do or do not. My family does.

I invite Wal-Mart to do whatever they would like. I don't care as long as I have the freedom to decide whether to do business there.
I also don't care at all whether the public school system makes provisions for my Christian holidays. I don't feel any need for bureaucratic validation.

A friend ran the search last night and came up with like 7,900 hits for Christmas stuff.
It sounds like someone, likely in a competitor's marketing department, decided to start an urban legend.

What people say and what people do is entirely different. Money talks and morality walks.
Christmas has become a huge communalized industry and most, if not all, religious origins, history and traditions have been long forgotten by the new generation and their parents. It's all about toys and gifts...nothing else.
Most parents would shudder at boycotting Wal-Mart if they had the only gay jihad Joe action figure in town and little spoiled Johnny would have a fit if they didn't get it. Furthermore, if the doll was sold at old geezers department store down the road at $25.00 and at Wal-Mart for $21.00, they would die before they would pay that $4.00 difference.
It's sad, but just about all religious aspects are gone from both Christmas and Easter to make room for commercialization.

Boycott them all, any business falling in line with the Liberal agenda needs to be sent a message, a strong message.

Wouldn't it just be easier and smarter to say "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!".

Might as well be honest about it; the only holiday that retail celebrates is called Golden Quarter. Deity not included, some assembly is required.

I will be delighted to support any retailer who refrains from wishing me "Merry Christmas" until no earlier than December 24! Spare me the Christmas music, too.
I think I'll go to Wal-mart tomorrow - out of trash bags, anyway - and if someone wishes me a Happy Veterans' Day, I'll give him a big hug!

I'm Jewish, and it's always hit me as silly when somebody says to me, "Happy Holidays!" I mean, I'm pretty sure that there's nothing about me that says, "I'm not a Christian." COME ON! The Holiday is called
CHRISTMAS! What's so difficult to understand? If somebody gets their panties in a wad when someone wishes them a "Merry Christmas," they need to go soak their head. In fact, whenever confronted with a "Happy Holidays" greeting, my response is always a, "And a Merry Christmas to you too!" Most of the time, I get a huge smile in response.
I have no problem with saying "Merry Christmas," nor do I get upset when someone wishes me one! For goodness sakes, we know that Christmas is always on December 25th, every year. I can never keep track of when Chanuka starts, being based on a lunar calendar! Besides, when more than 80% of your fellow countrymen are Christian, then you can make certain assumptions. This isn't "oppression." It's common courtesy.
The "Founding Fathers" decided to create a government based on the principals of a Republic, not a democracy. This ensured against what is known as "the tyranny of the majority." However, the loonies seem to have taken over the assylum, and what we're now presented with is a "tyranny of the minority!"
