Wal-Mart faces boycott for 'banning' Christmas
WorldNetDaily ^ | Nov. 10, 2005 | Joe Kovacs

Posted on 11/10/2005 1:48:18 AM PST by News Hunter

A Catholic advocacy group has launched a national boycott against Wal-Mart, claiming the world's No. 1 retailer has in effect "banned" Christmas, while promoting other seasonal holidays such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

But Wal-Mart tells WorldNetDaily it has "absolutely not" banned Christmas, but is just "trying to serve all our customers for the holiday season."

Why? I don't think he had any say in the new marketing decisions. How could the store mngr. change anything? He's just another peon.

No, because all you want to do is argue what is well known about Wal-Mart and their overseas suppliers.

So you make an unbacked accusation and then run away?
Thank you very much.

It would be wise of you to show proof you know.

GOOD! I hope it tanks their stock so I can buy a boatload. Walmart rules the market, weather we like it or not we better get used to it.

Even a blind man should be able to see this writing on the wall.

me either....

John Gibson just reported on it on Fox.....

But they still have Christmas stuff in their stores, they still have nativity scenes inside their stores....

2 + 2 isn't equaling 4 here.....

Pick your battles wisely, folks. You can buy all the Christmas themed items you could shake a stick at in Wal-Mart. Now if they stopped carrying those items at all, then we might have something about which to complain.

Excellent advice and comments.

"So you make an unbacked accusation and then run away?

Search the internet. Do your own research. This is such a well known topic there is no need to cut-n-paste a bunch of articles. So, I stand by it, but people such as yourself will no doubt, as usually, have an excuse ready for any article given showing Wal-Mart is culpable in such nasty dealings.

Arguing the point with people who will support Wal-Mart at any cost is like arguing about Clinton with his devoted suporters. The man could mow down a Girl Scout troop on the front lawn of the White House and his supporters would make excuses.

There's that new math again :)

Based upon the facts presented here regarding the quantity of obviously Christmas and even Christian merchandise the charge of WM ignoring Christmas is just plain bovine excrement.

That's about where I sit...

Tell me when they start ripping Christmas stuff down or when they refuse to allow the Salvation Army outside of their doors....

And just WHAT do you buy that YOU are SO SURE isn't made by child labor/sweatshops/Chinese (God Forbid)/etc?

You probably shop at Wal Mart every day, but you are trying to be different on FR....

I NEVER shop at Wal-Mart. Haven't in over 5 years. I also don't shop cheap discount stores, so that limits my exposure to cheap imports. Do I KNOW that NONE of my products that I buy are not child/slave labor? No, but I certainly don't shop business that target buying their products from such sources as Wal-Mart does and I do look at lables. Take fruit for instance. Most likely winter fruit comes from South America someplace. Can't tell for sure and don't know who worked the fields, but if reports came out that child/slave labor did the work I sure as Hell wouldn't buy it.

goodie for you.

I personally don't care. I will shop where I NEED TO GET SOMETHING. Right now, since the Super WalMart isn't finished yet, it's Target. Then I will go to WalMart and I won't think anything more of it.

After all, their products aren't any more or less foreign as Target's, Meijer's, or whoever else is out there and available to me.

Vive Le WalMart!! LOL

I think this is making something out of a whole lot of nothing. There is half a million things that say "Christmas" on them all over wallyworld, who the heck cares if they file all that crap under 'holiday' or 'Christmas'.

Do you realize how utterly ridiculous you sound?

"exposure to cheap imports"???????? PUH -LEEEEZE.

WalMart doesn't sell anything different than any other retailer, they just do it at a more reasonable price than the others.

Just to let them know of my dissatisfaction with the policy.

A one person protest.

But I don't shop there anyway so I will not be financially punishing anyone.

A company can't discriminate against employees or potential employees because of their political views. I don't know if it's against the law, probably not, but it's certainly bad business.

That said, entering into a "debate" about religion with a customer is just plain dumb.

And consider this, the source is World Net Daily.

You know, we rail against the MSM so often, but a lot of these right wing internet news sites are just as bad, if not worse.

A specific response - I think you're missing the point regarding the search engine.

All they are noting is the absurdity of equating Christmas with Kuanza given the fact that nobody celebrates Kwanza (and Wal Mart sells very few products related to it) while Christmas is a MAJOR holiday both in celebration and sales.
