Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) let slip a bombshell disclosure at a news conference today to announce a bill targeting states that allow illegal aliens to get drivers licenses.
During the Q&A with reporters, Myrick gave as a reason for proposing the bill the recent capture of three al Qaeda terrorists at the U.S.-Mexico border.
A check of Google News turned up no references to this incident, yet Myrick stated this was a 'given fact.'
No reporter asked her about this revelation, but it was noted at the end of a Charlotte Observer article by Tim Funk.
Two Representatives from North Carolina, Virginia Foxx (R) and Patrick McHenry (R) stood with Myrick at the press conference. Neither commented on her matter of fact statement.
Rep. Myrick's remarks can be heard online at her Congressional Website here. the statement is made at about 8:45 into the press conference.
A call placed to Myrick's office in D.C. was not answered as the office is closed for the evening.
Transcript:
"Our main concern is, who's in our state? I mean this is a critical issue today. I mean they just arrested down on the border, what a couple of weeks ago, three al Qaeda members who came across from Mexico into the United States. I mean that's a given fact. They were holding them in the jail down there."
If we get nuked, my last concern is the survival of the administration.
Last word on this for me. I think we should really pull a surprise on them and completely get rid of the border, just remove it. See, that way they will think something really bad will happen to them once they step over what used to be a line. Kind of the old "train an elephant to not pull out a stake peg" trick. Plus; who wants to try and cross a border that isn't there? The challenge will be gone! well, gotta run, my tacos are burning!
Yes Canada, home of a appeasing french like govt. and multiculturalism.
Wrong again. I know who you are, you are the "devils advocate". Took several posts to figure that out. Cute.
Actually at least one of them was not.
You have an investment in leaving the back door open, Dane. What is that investment? Certainly not the protection of Americans from criminals/criminal elements pouring through the doors.
To know me is to love me.
He does have a point about the northern border being 1. Longer and 2. less secure for a greater part of it, I think. We did catch terrorists coming across NY and Vancouver right after 9-11, yes?
Dereliction of Duty on Border Security and Immigration Enforement.
If I was going to do that, I would bring it to eastern Canada by ship and then either fly (private plane) it or drive it across.
So, you think the ONLY way AQ will get into America is via aircraft....somehow they're less intelligent or crafty than those who illegally cross the borders, daily.
And there's no bomb-making material within the U.S., either?
Where did McVeigh get his bomb-making material from? Outside the U.S.? Where did AQ get their bomb-making material from for their first WTC attack? the second? where did AQ get their bomb-making material from on Flight 93?
"Guest Terrorists"
Bush Admin-"Nothing to see here, move along.."
We need as many "Vigilantes" as we can get along the border it seems.
If terrorists who've come across our southern border manage to pull off an attack, I'd demand impeachment and conviction of every top admin official from the President on down.
Then I want them indicted and tried for treason.
Enough is enough.
"Although some people will make it their soap box or agenda allowing them to trash Bush, blah blah blah. "
Hey clown, who's in charge?
bump
JimRob.
" If they lug a 30 yr old suitcase nuke across a friggin desert and the thing still works I will be mightly surprised....."
So would 150 thousand other people.
Your logic: there's criminal elements coming through the northern border. There's thousand of criminal elements streaming through the southern border. Therefore, we should only seal the northern border.
