Discuss the results of the Virginia election as results come in. The governor's race is especially important, but there are also races for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Also, there are significant House of Delegates races
Virginia Election Results in Real Time
I think that'll be a mixed blessing- With more DOD work comes additional consultant-types to work defense contracts, and these types tend to be somewhere around 80% Democrat.
Our prosperity is attracting too many Yankees. We've gotta figure out a way to funnel them to Maryland...
Kilgore never made a case for why he should be elected.
Kilgore never made a case for why Kaine should not be elected.
Republicans in Virginia need to field a better candidate next time ... Bolling made a good showing tonight ... I would suggest him.
I am a consultant and a huge number of my colleagues tend to be conservative. Those who are liberals tend to be technically and managerially incompetent.
Bolling will be there every step of the way to undermine any liberal economic or social policy that Tim tries to pass off. The way we keep this state honest is to punish severly all Rinos who shift to the left in the primaries. Kaine did not win this election without crossover republican votes who were probably rinos or misguided conservatives.
A question comes to mind, How many of the dearly departed voted for Kaine?
I'm one too, here in toothless Fairfax County. I'd say perhaps 20-25% are conservative, at least amongst the circles I run in (Federal Civilian agencies). Maybe the DOD-types are better after all...
Federal Civilian agencies are where the biggest purge of deadwood needs to take place and yes they are the lazy, unproductive liberals.
The DoD types are about 90% conservative and republican. Liberals are intimidated in our business big time.
Memo: Next time, run somebody who will SIGN THE DAMN NO-TAX-INCREASE PLEDGE.
That was just slimy. To attack the notion that the accused is entitled to present a case in his defense is to spit on basic American principles.
I have zero respect for anybody who won't sign that pledge. Zero.
He is notorious for incorrect election news.
You got to give them a reason to come out and vote. That's the candidates job. You can have the best GOTV plan in the world but if your candidate doesn't inspire the electorate it's all for naught. Kilgore let Kaine present himself asa commonsense moderate...he's not. Kilgore failed to respond when Kaine complained that he was being persecuted for his faith. Kilgore failed to sign the no new tax pledge. Kilgore failed to respond when Kaine ran ads for the last 2 weeks calling him a liar and pointing out that every major paper in the state was calling him a liar. Unless you're a real party faithful there just wasn't a reason to get out and vote and from the looks of it some of the GOP party faithful felt the same way. We let a real opportunity slip from our fingers.
I don't blame anything on the candidates. We have self government. It's all the fault of the electorate. The GOP got shut out yesterday. In my view, Californians, New Jerseyites, and Virginians have no one to blame but themselves if things go badly.
