TOPEKA, Kan.-New science standards for Kansas' public schools, criticized for promoting creationism while treating evolution as a flawed theory, won approval Tuesday from the State Board of Education.

The board's 6-4 vote, expected for months, was a victory for intelligent design advocates who helped draft the standards and argued the changes would make teaching about evolution more balanced and expose studels teach science.

Science shows clearly that races differ in their abilities and character.

So which race is superior?

Superior is a relative notion. For example hounds are superior for hunting. Shephard dogs are superior for herding, Alaskan Malamutes are superior for pulling sleds and other dog races are superior to be toy dogs at home.

Patently false.

Really? So human species is so unique in animal kingdom that human races do not differ?

Not, equality and brotherhood of men is derived from the RELIGION, not from science.

Nobody is saying the sexes aren't different or that there aren't differences between the races.

Yes but you are the one making a ranking distinction. The point is, with Christianity that is impossible, so your argument is vain except to use on yourself.

You need to read just how poorly they are doing.

Academic Statistics

The average homeschool 8th grade student performs four grade levels above the national average (Rudner study). One in four homeschool students (24.5%) are enrolled one or more grades above age level. Students who have been home schooled their entire lives have the highest scholastic achievement. In every subject and at every grade level of the ITBS and TAP batteries, homeschool students scored significantly higher than their counterparts in public and private schools.

Homeschool profile

Median amount spent on home schooling per child in the US - $450

Household incomes

18% of home school families earn less than $25,000, 44% of households between $25,000 and $49,000.

Religion

Over 75% attend religious services

You hit the nail right square on the head. I think in reality, it really boils down to "theory" versus "belief" which in reality are completely different things. As a college-educated engineer and a Christian, I am appalled at the idea that Kansas is doing this mainly because it demonstrates a more fundamental lack of understanding about these very basic ideas.

Rumors that the board is planning to introduce alchemy as a science elective have not yet been confirmed.

Witch burning is the first agenda.

Sorry. Read the rest of #75. The implication is clear.

No the statement clearly states that Christianity by definition prevents any distinction. It is the Christian RELIGION that teaches people are equal before God.

You are correct. Some google definitions

Theory: a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena; "theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses"; "true in fact and theory"

Belief: any cognitive content (perception) held as true; religious faith

Based on this, evolution is a theory. CS and ID are beliefs.

Ah yes, we know that "no true Christian" would discriminate against women. The history of Christianity is filled with examples of sexuality equality.

You: "Science shows clearly that races differ in their abilities and character."

I'd say that's over the line. I didn't know science showed that some races are superior to others. You assert it does. Where's your evidence for this vile assertion.

It is you who used the term "superior". I said that the races differ in biological/scientific aspects. And I believe that God endowed men/women from every race with the same kind of soul and that all men are made in image of God.

It is the Christian RELIGION which asserts the inherent dignity and equality of ALL men. For godless person who "believes" in science people are just animals or biochemical soulless machines.

What do stamps have to do with ID or evolution. Here's some of the science that was somehow happening w/out the evolution theory. Dutch amature microscope builder Anton Van Leeuwenhoek was the first to see Microorganisms in detail. The microscope he used to accomplih this was of his own design and involved careful manipulation of the specimen as well as careful focusing.

* Leewenhoek called these tiny organisms "little animalicules" and wrote his findings to the The Royal Society of London which subsequently tested and approved his findings.

* The 19th Century was the beginning of microbiology as we know it. However it was not until the end of this century, that the field was truley accepted. This delay was due to the lack of advancement in the field of microscopy.

* The advancements in this field led to two major questions: 1.Does spontaneous generation occur? 2.What is the nature of contagious disease?

This is Kansas. We don't burn witches, we drop houses on them while they're busy terrorizing the Munchkins.

Wouldn't that be faith and not science?

That is right. The Christian (medieval Roman Catholic) faith in God given laws of nature is what gave actual beginning and to the science. Foundations are often different from what is built on them. But what is even more often when the foundation is removed the building collapses.

I strongly object to your implication that science is racist. Modern biology, anatomy, and comparitive genomics show that the differences between individuals is superficial. As a species, do not have a great deal of genetic variation. The lengths to which people will go to smear science never fail to amaze me.

If biology is not a natural science, if biology is uniquely at the whim of a capricious intervener, then it is stamp collecting. If we cannot discern a chain of causation, we are just collecting unrelated facts.
