I have a SIGARMS P239 .357 SIG for concealed carry and inside-the-home defense, but I feel I need a good rifle for neighborhood defense outside -- just in case somebody wants to torch some cars. I'd love an M1 Garand -- just to hear the ka-ching when the clip ejects -- but it's too expensive. The Ruger Mini Thirty looks interesting. What are your suggestions?
There are very clear laws under the UCC regarding repossession. I own a collection agency and am well aware of all of them.
What I see every day is people who want things for the their own enjoyment but don't want to pay for it. I don't feel bad for these people, except in a few situations that we will probably both agree on.
Most creditors wait at least 90 days before reposessing a car.
I can't imagine a creditor knowingly exposing itself legally by repossessing a car whose owner is current on the payments. It makes no sense.
I do a lot of work for tool rental companies. If the person never returns the rented tool, at what point does it become stealing? I am chasing a few deadbeats right now who rented expensive tools and never returned them. Are they simply debtors or thieves? In fact, at this point, I have so many clients in one area, I have the same deadbeats owing money to many of my clients? Am I supposed to feel bad for these people?

That is an interesting tidbit of information. I never would have guessed it. I suppose at really long range it comes down to marksmanship more than anything else. Do you happen to know what the range the fellow from Finland shot from? I'm afraid that with my eyesight, I do need a scope for really long shots but in a heavily wooded area, where shots will be closer, I like an iron sight.
I don't want to sound like I am against scopes. I do like a good scope under the right conditions such as hunting for elk in a semi-open area or such. I also think that a night-vision scope would be fun. I just don't know what I would use it for beyond midnight target practice. I suspect that the blinding light from "youths" lobbing Molotov cocktails would be very problematic for all but the most expensive of night-vision scopes as well. I agree that many of the rifles being suggested are great rifles. They just don't qualify as cheap and that was part of the original requirement posted. Speed of target acquisition at close range would be my primary complaint with scopes at close range. Perhaps it's just me but it takes me just a little longer to select and focus on a close in target with a scope, especially if the target is moving with much speed.

My statements were not intended to be taken literally, they were to give you a dose of reality of what actually happens, versus what is supposed to happen.
Even if you have paid off your house, you can lose it if you don't pay contractors who work on it and they sue you in court.
What do you think happens if you don't pay property taxes??? You "own" your home right?
I have rarely ever heard of a creditor going after someone who is current on their payments. It defies logic.
The fact of the matter is that we under the illusion of ownership. You can harp on me about whatever little thing you want, but you really don't own anything absolutely.
For example, you "own" your furniture right? Well, what if you are sued and the judgement creditor decides to satisfy the judgement with your "stuff"??? Remember O.J. having to give up his Heisman trophy???
You took my point literally when it was not intended as such.
You know the old statement about people "owning" others once they do them favors or give them money or the like? Its not that they actually own them, but in many subtle ways they do.

After reading all of the recommendations on this thread, I've come to the conclusion that I need a shotgun instead of a rifle. With your money, I'd buy a Benelli M4. With my money, I'd buy a Remington 870.
Exaggerations like that do make your point sound better than simply stating the facts.
I guess everyone exaggerates some times but when called on it why not just say, "yes that is not quite right."

What was the point? The guy did not pay his or her car note, the repo guy was doing his job getting the car. The guy shoots the repo man because he "thought" the car was getting stolen. No charges????

I track down people who take advantage of small businesses and make them pay what they should. You got a problem with that or do you think all lawyers are ambulance chasers looking to rob taxpayers?
