My statements were not intended to be taken literally, they were to give you a dose of reality of what actually happens, versus what is supposed to happen.
Even if you have paid off your house, you can lose it if you don't pay contractors who work on it and they sue you in court.
What do you think happens if you don't pay property taxes??? You "own" your home right?
I have rarely ever heard of a creditor going after someone who is current on their payments. It defies logic.
The fact of the matter is that we under the illusion of ownership. You can harp on me about whatever little thing you want, but you really don't own anything absolutely.
For example, you "own" your furniture right? Well, what if you are sued and the judgement creditor decides to satisfy the judgement with your "stuff"??? Remember O.J. having to give up his Heisman trophy???

You know the old statement about people "owning" others once they do them favors or give them money or the like? Its not that they actually own them, but in many subtle ways they do.

Exaggerations like that do make your point sound better than simply stating the facts.
I guess everyone exaggerates some times but when called on it why not just say, "yes that is not quite right."
