A 15:42 minute video featuring a series of sniper attacks upon American soldiers, titled: Baghdad Sniper, was issued today, November 3, 2005. The subtitle: Juba, references the nickname given by American forces to the insurgent sniper in Baghdad. Interspersed within the clip are several alleged quotes from American soldiers and officers, military analysts, and The Guardian news publication, expressing the fear of snipers and the deadliness of their accuracy. One such quote purported to be from a concerned person of the 164th Brigade in al-Rasmiya compound, states: In the time we walk on foot, we have the idea in our heads that it is a real threat to us. In the addition, the video presents a list of casualty numbers to American forces killed by snipers for the period between Ramadan 2004 and 2005.
The group states that this film is a gift for Muslims on the occasion of the Fitr feast marking the end of the holy month Ramadan.

In the time we walk on foot, we have the idea in our heads that it is a real threat to us. Now there's a sentence that appears 'cut and pasted' and taken out of context...

Juba, Juba, Juba. It seems like someone over there (or here, i.e media) is trying darn hard to paint this Juba dude into being a Vasily Zaitsev. He is not!
In fact the only thing truly shocking about this character is that he is STILL ALIVE!
He is no Vasily, and doesn't even come close.

...expressing the fear of snipers and the deadliness of their accuracy.NOT!
Those with Druganovs generally weren't Iraqi and were preety good. However, most 'snipers' were just hidden gunmen taking quick shots from hidden places.
In one place we used to sit on the berms trying to find them find us. Obviously we weren't intimidated by their 'legendary' prowess.

Juba was the name of a man who led the Numidians against the Romans. He had some initial success, and then the Romans sent down Marius and Sulla to deal with him.
Let me express what happened then with a demonstration of what happens when you put an egg on the pavement, and have an elephant step on it.
Scrunch.

I saw a DOD RFP a couple of weeks ago for an accoustic sniper locator to be mounted on a UAV. I guess it must be for locating these type.
That having been said, from what I saw of the video, this Juba prefers to strike with a single shot in busy areas of mixed perdestrian and vehicular traffic. As the victims fellow soldiers attention is initially directed to them and pedestrians begin to scatter, this Juba makes his egress from the area.
I don't think this Juba will last much longer.

Juba up and Juba down,
Juba all aroun' de town.
Juba dance, Juba sing,
Juba cut de pigeon wing.
("Master Juba", the stage name of William Henry Lane, a free black from Rhode Island, was the inventor of "pattin' Juba," the predecessor of tap dancing.)

Or not...Seems to me the wrong person would have seen him by now if he's swimming with the fish...and it takes a cool customer to stay put. His egress could involve little more than putting his rifle down and moving a few feet away. The fact that the photographer in the car knew the target suggests a DC type sniper. Juba may be in the trunk.

Scarey thing is...he's not doing anything but following regular sniper doctrine as far as I understand it. Are we really *that* dependent on the other side being morons to catch them?

Actually, isn't the very existence of Vasily Zaitsev questionable. In fact I kinda think this might be just that. Think about it. One dude, responsible for nearly 10% of American casualties. Makes the other 20K pretty F'ing useless.
Here's another look. I watched the video. As an American, it made me lust for blood. I want these (explicicitives of choice) to suffer. It makes me lose all sense of Christian grace..momentarily. I want this freakin' video seen by all Americans...as a gift to all muslims..in the sense a burning bag of dog crap is a gift. That would pretty much put Code Pink, Ted Kennedy, and 90% of the DNC in perspective. It also puts the ROP in proper prospective. Poorly conceived Propaganda cuts both ways.
Also, How many American snipers would brag about at 75% kill ratio. From the distance this punk seemed to be (Sub 500 yards) I think 90% of deer camp could pull that off between cases of schmitties.
And Also Again, the F'head winged a couple in his promotional video.
SO; in summary,
1). This video will stir American's in a bad way, let Muslim's open their "gift" carefully.
2). This "Juba" is probably one dude just like Pink Floyd and Molly Hatchet, and possibly Zaitsev..a composite character
3). They, IMO, ain't so hot. But need to die a cheap death... regardless.

Now that we know he's out there and within a short distance of the victim, I suspect rather than the victims comrads buttoning up, they'll start advancing or do something to draw a second shot and better locate him. He will take a second shot because he did so in one of the frames and appeared to miss. I also notice that he left quite a few WIA's. Either he isn't a very good shot or, he's firing from an unstable platform such as a car trunk.
